Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I am a clinical psychologist with 8 years of experience. I primarily work from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. Together, we’ll clarify what is most important to you, identify your life goals, and strategize ways to reduce your suffering while moving you closer to those goals. I also integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. My approach is transparent, intersectional, and above all: human. All of your identities are welcome here, so let’s talk about how your mental health intersects with race, gender, sexuality, spirituality, and all the other parts that make you, you. I specialize in working with clients (16+) who identify across the spectrums of gender and sexual orientation, and families who want to learn how to be more supportive of their loved ones. My (virtual) therapy room is a safe/brave space for anyone whose identity tends to be excluded from society. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy via telehealth. I also provide supervision, consultation, and workshops around topics of diversity and mental health. To learn more and see if we might be a good fit, reach out for a free consultation. Please note: I am not in network with any medicaid ("community plan") or medicare plans. I am in network only with the commercial insurances noted in this profile. Referrals with United Healthcare Community Plan (Medicaid) will be referred back to the counseling center for an alternate referral.

You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. Maybe you grew up keeping the peace, managing everyone else's emotions, or shrinking yourself to avoid conflict, and now those same patterns are running your life. You overthink, you people-please, you second-guess yourself constantly. You are self-aware enough to know something is not working, and awareness alone has not changed it. These patterns have roots. Family wounds, early trauma, relationships that taught you it was not safe to be yourself. Insight goes a long way toward naming them and stops short of loosening them, which is not a failure of effort on your part. I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, an eye movement therapy that works on the physical charge attached to a memory rather than the story about it. You do not have to describe what happened out loud. Most people notice a shift within one to five sessions, and I offer ART both in weekly therapy and as a single longer intensive session for students who want to resolve something specific without a semester-long commitment. I am also trained in EMDR and use a person-centered, strengths-based approach throughout. If you are ready to stop going through the motions and find out who you are when you are not managing everyone else, I would like to hear from you.

I have a master's degree from Medaille College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have a bachelor's degree and a background in art and photography, I have a lot of personal experience healing and working through many of the areas that I help my clients work through. My approach is personalized with each person I meet. Together, we navigate your current feelings and circumstances. You will discover how your thoughts and perspectives were formed and how this guides your behaviors and relationships with yourself and others. You will develop a new understanding of how you process your experiences, and new tools you can take on your journey that will improve your quality of life. I believe clients take away new perspectives and practices that alleviate stress and triggers. You will have a new approach to your thoughts and feelings and feel relief from the symptoms that bind you.
As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in work with depression, difficulties relating to trauma and anxiety, and with gender identity and sexuality. My goal is to help you to feel less suffering and to experience a more fulfilling life. A good experience in therapy involves both psychologist and patient. I have experience working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a variety of concerns, as well as with those who are GNC or queer. In my clinical work, I use evidence-based practices for conditions such as major depressive disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In my academic role at Bard College, I study and teach on the impacts of mood disorders, trauma, and depressive thought. (I do not usually see current Bard College students.)

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.

This can include family/relationship issues, life transitions (including college/early adulthood), or identity formation. I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, especially women with ADHD. Supporting LGBTQ+ mental health from an intersectional lens is another focus. I also have an interest in working with clients who are exploring immigrant experience, family dynamics, and generational trauma. I previously worked in college counseling (at Wellesley College) and residential life (at Harvard College), so I'm well-attuned to the specific experiences and challenges of college student life! As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that our experiences are shaped by our relationships with ourselves, other people, and the world at large. My work is informed by feminist, queer, disability, and critical race theory. I also integrate narrative therapy, which allows us to reimagine the stories we tell about ourselves and our lives. I am deeply attentive to how identity and marginalization can impact one's experiences and movement through the world. In my work, I strive for a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and socially just practice. I meet clients with curiosity, warmth, and nuance to explore their experiences, relationships, and challenges. My goal is to co-create a welcoming and supportive space in which clients can tell/retell their stories, appreciate their strengths, and work towards their goals
