Hello! I'm so glad you're taking this step for your mental health. I went to the therapy for the first time while attending college (at USC too!), and it was pivotal for me. I really value working with college students, and genuinely appreciate how much you have to do deal with. Maybe you're struggling with transitions - adjusting to the start of college, or facing the daunting landscape post-graduation. Maybe you can feel all the pressures mounting to the point where you feel paralyzed and burnt out and confused. Maybe you'd like for just one thing - anything - to be taken off your plate, or for the load to be shared somehow. Maybe you're even trying to figure yourself out beyond the story that's been your life so far. I'd like to help make things seem clearer, or kinder, or safer, and I think we can do it together. I offer 45-minute sessions, as well as longer 90-minute sessions, to fit what you might need best. I also offer letters for medical transition, disability, ESA, and can complete return to school forms.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE: * LAW STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING * ANY STUDENT COPING WITH ILLNESS/BEREAVEMENT There is widespread recognition of significant mental health challenges affecting law students, especially depression, anxiety, and substance use. As an attorney and psychotherapist, I understand the unique stressors and pressures of law school and the legal profession. For many years, I managed the high demands of big law and a federal judicial clerkship. I spent more than a decade in higher education leading a law school mental health and wellness program, counseling law students and alumni with career and professional concerns, and teaching first- and third-year law courses. Through individually tailored therapy, I help clients cultivate healthy coping mechanisms to navigate the many demands of the legal field while prioritizing mental well-being. My successful approach integrating evidence-based therapeutic interventions with law-related concepts and experiences has been a game changer for clients. Additionally, as a former national research and healthcare leader, patient advocate and caregiver for 25+ years, I help individuals and their loved ones navigate the challenges and opportunities presented to those living with chronic, life altering or terminal illness. For those dealing with bereavement and grief, I help clients cope with the many facets of loss and move towards healing, acceptance, and finding a renewed sense of meaning in life.

Effective therapy creates meaningful, lasting, joyful change. As your therapist I can help you resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Life brings unchosen experiences. Sometimes we feel hurt, scared, or deeply alone. Sometimes what happens seems too big to manage. For 25+ years I have had the privilege of helping people learn to live as their "best self," able to manage their moods, thoughts and situations with compassion and skill, to make changes to reach their goals, and to find happiness. I lived and worked in Africa for 6 years, and have helped people from many cultures find their joy. My specialty is helping people understand their unique "recipe" of biology, upbringing, relationships, and current situations, and how they might work with their "ingredients" to create immediate and long-lasting positive change. My approach is practical. I integrate psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, internal and strategic family systems, EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness-based stress management. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, pulls towards behaviors that lead to pain...whatever is interfering with your well-being is worth changing. Together we can produce change. Please EMAIL

I specialize in working with survivors of childhood abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My training is extensive, including EMDRIA-approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), Internal Family Systems informed interventions (IFS), and couples therapy. I am committed to serving the LGBTQ+ community, offering support for gender-affirming surgery letter evaluations. My goal is to help you process the past so it no longer dictates your present, providing a space where you feel seen and supported. I offer specialized modalities to help process traumatic memories safely and effectively. In my work with couples and sexual health, I take a sex-positive, judgment-free approach, supporting clients through mismatched desire, intimacy barriers, and navigating non-traditional relationship structures such as polyamory or open relationships. Whether we are using somatic techniques or cognitive tools, our work is always collaborative and tailored to your unique healing. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing; ensuring a comfortable fit is a priority. In our first session, we will focus on building a foundation of safety and respect. We’ll discuss your history, current concerns, and future goals at a pace you are comfortable with. You can expect a professional yet warm environment where we identify the specific roadblocks you would like to overcome. By the end of our meeting, we will have a clear plan for moving forward towards your goals and you will leave with a sense of direction.

** Telehealth and In-Person appointments.** We all long for our experiences, feelings, and needs to be seen, recognized, and honored. I bring to our work deep respect for your concerns and suffering. I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together which I approach with curiosity and empathy. I am most interested in what your unique experience is, and I aim to listen deeply on our road toward understanding. A safe-enough space will help us to transform your patterns of experience that interfere with your ability to be compassionate with yourself, to build meaningful relationships, and to work and play creatively, in other words, to live a fulfilling life. I am humbled by the complexity of human existence and feel honored to work with individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, as well as spiritual and religious affiliations. In addition to my private practice, I am an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School (part-time) and supervise psychology interns and psychiatrist fellows. I served as the co-chair of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology Graduate Student Committee helping young clinicians explore and develop their professional identities.

One of my favorite things a patient has said to me is - “Thank you for being part of my journey”. That’s what life is to me – a journey we are all on together. What I want for everyone is that they can overcome any barriers they may have so that they can become their whole selves and live life to its fullest. I work with many kinds of people from all walks of life on issues like neurodiversity, autism, anxiety, ADHD, family history, relationships, and couples’ concerns. I also have expertise working with college students, international students, young adults, and couples after working and training at the University of Rochester counseling center. I have done training specifically to provide therapy through an anti-racist lens and continue to reflect on my own whiteness. I use a mixed relational approach pulling from person centered therapy, existential therapy, DBT and more. I am committed to providing a safe, sex positive, non-judgmental space for trust and growth to happen. Are you looking for change? Are you ready to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and uncover your potential? Then give me a call or send an email and we can set up a consultation. Let’s start the conversation!

It’s easy to feel stuck or broken when we’ve never had the space to allow all of our emotions, the support to feel them safely, and the perspective to view ourselves with compassion. But when we finally get those things, we get to evolve, grow and change in ways that can be truly profound. My job isn’t to force you to do anything, but to help you learn and build what you’ve needed, so that you can evolve in the ways you want to. If I can count on you to teach me about yourself, about what you feel, and what you're hoping for, you can count on me to listen, and to offer options for how we can pursue your goals. I offer an open approach that includes you in deciding what we do and why, so we can be sure we're working in ways that are both understandable and meaningful to you. So far, this approach has led to clear results for people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and recent traumas. As we collaborate, I can provide additional support via methods like EMDR, IFS, EAET, mindfulness, exposure, and body-based therapies. Call or email any time.

The college years are a time of self discovery and challenge. Opening yourself up to new people, experiences and ways of thinking can be both invigorating and daunting. Being away from the known can feel overwhelming. What I can offer you is an opportunity to explore underlying patterns of thought, behavior and communication that may inhibit your ability to meet your own expectations of yourself during this unique time in your life. Together we will work to identify and overcome the obstacles that have interfered with your ability to resolve distressing issues. Together we will calm your anxious mind, alleviate symptoms of depression, increase self-awareness, identify strengths and empower you to move your life in a more positive direction.
