Therapists for college students near New York University
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist, providing support and guidance to LGBTQ+ folks who often don’t see themselves represented in the world around them or reflected in their search for the right-fit therapist. While I regularly help folks work through depression, anxiety, and trauma, we also freely discuss other topics that might not otherwise feel comfortable, including sex, faith, and the impact of diet culture. Nothing is off limits. I also regularly work with neurodivergent folks, especially around the emotional impact of ADHD, and exploring autistic identity. I am licensed in both New York and Wisconsin, and see clients throughout both states through video sessions.
Hi there! My name is Catherine, and thank you for visiting my profile. I understand the challenges and excitement that come with finding a therapist that you feel you can "click" with, as this is YOUR journey, and you deserve to feel comfortable, heard, and validated during your therapeutic process with a provider that is attentive, present, and engaged. I value the therapeutic process as the therapist, and understand the time and energy it takes as the client (you) to be vulnerable, honest, and trusting. I am a safe-space for you to begin this healing journey. As a therapist, my main goal is to meet you where you are at in your healing journey. We will explore your insight into your personal morals and values that keep you grounded and motivated as a person, as well as discuss and explore any discrepancies you may be currently facing that may be testing your personal strength, and causing any self-doubt. Whether you have been in therapy for most of your life, or this is your first ever time reaching out for support in a therapeutic setting, please don't hesitate to give me a call to explore therapy and therapeutic options for you.
Do you feel like anxiety, sadness, or grief is making it hard to enjoy your life the way you hoped you would? Maybe you expected this chapter of your life to feel exciting or full of possibility, but instead you feel overwhelmed, confused, or like something is “off.” You might be dealing with loss, relationship stress, changes in your body, or worries about the future. You may not even have the words for what you are feeling. You just know you do not feel like yourself. You are not alone, and you do not have to figure this out by yourself. I’m Gabrielle, and I support students who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, reproductive or hormonal changes, identity shifts, and life transitions. Many of the students I work with are navigating experiences like: • Anxiety or depression that feels heavier than usual • Grief after a loss or major life change • Pregnancy or postpartum feelings that are confusing or overwhelming • Stress related to fertility concerns or reproductive health • Difficult medical or hospital experiences • Identity or relationship changes that feel unsettling My approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and centered on what you need most. Therapy with me is a place where you can slow down, explore what you are feeling, and learn tools to help you cope day to day. In our work together, you will find a safe space to: • Untangle overwhelming thoughts and emotions • Learn coping skills you can use right away • Process grief, fear, or confusion with support • Reconnect with what matters to you • Feel more grounded and hopeful again You do not have to carry everything on your own. With the right support, healing is possible, and you can start to feel more like yourself again.

Collaboratively, we will work towards balance, improving your overall capacity to lead a successful, productive, happy life. I have over 12 years experience in providing therapy services, working with individuals and couples from all walks of life. I am a clinical psychologist with 8 years of experience. I primarily work from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. Together, we’ll clarify what is most important to you, identify your life goals, and strategize ways to reduce your suffering while moving you closer to those goals. I also integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. My approach is transparent, intersectional, and above all: human. All of your identities are welcome here, so let’s talk about how your mental health intersects with race, gender, sexuality, spirituality, and all the other parts that make you, you. I specialize in working with clients (16+) who identify across the spectrums of gender and sexual orientation, and families who want to learn how to be more supportive of their loved ones. My (virtual) therapy room is a safe/brave space for anyone whose identity tends to be excluded from society. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy via telehealth. I also provide supervision, consultation, and workshops around topics of diversity and mental health. To learn more and see if we might be a good fit, reach out for a free consultation. Please note: I am not in network with any medicaid ("community plan") or medicare plans. I am in network only with the commercial insurances noted in this profile. Referrals with United Healthcare Community Plan (Medicaid) will be referred back to the counseling center for an alternate referral.
Feeling overwhelmed by daily life and the weight of responsibilities and stress can be tough. Sometimes, we wonder if our emotions and feelings are just a part of typical life transitions. Let’s talk about it. Asking for help is the first step to finding a better place. It’s a journey to rediscover your values and take steps towards what truly matters to you. I believe therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather a personalized path to finding what works best for each individual. We’ll work together, and maybe even have some fun along the way. In getting to know each other, we will explore your values and goals and use strengths-based therapy, solution focused brief therapy, CBT, ACT and other approaches to best meet your needs. We will identify themes and thought patterns that impact your everyday life, and together we will explore techniques that work for you. I’m here to help with anxiety, depression, college transitions, perimenopause, grief and other challenges. I genuinely care about helping people and work with strengths-based and solution-focused approaches. We’ll build a therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect. Let’s work together to get you there!
