Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I offer psychotherapy for students and working professionals who are struggling with their mental health, having relationship issues, or are experiencing setbacks in their day-to-day. My focus is on providing clinical support and symptom relief to individuals who may be struggling with emotional, existential, or behavioral issues in a safe, non-judgemental space.
I come to the practice of counseling after many years working in student services in a university setting. I find (as the research continues to show) that the most important element of effective counseling is the connection between client and counselor—we will work collaboratively. I draw on many approaches including but not limited to client-centered, mindfulness, existential therapy, attachment theory, Buddhist psychology, solution-focused, trauma-informed, grief work, and internal parts work. I am in network with Aetna insurance and UHC/Optum and I also take direct pay (sliding scale is $170 to $120). I am seeing clients mostly through a HIPAA compliant video platform. Currently (Spring 2026), I do have a small number of openings for new clients. I am licensed to practice in New York, Connecticut, Maine, New Mexico, and registered for on line counseling in Florida and South Carolina.

I provide individual, couple and family therapy specializing in trauma, relationship conflicts and life transitions.
As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I have repeatedly seen the benefits of targeting trauma directly in a consistent way. Supported by research, dealing with the most distressing incident(s) can more efficiently help you become more present in your life, enjoy things you had before, and create a future you want. My approach is supportive and goal-oriented, and I am here to help you in this journey. I focus on individual treatment. I enact treatments of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). I also use Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Relationships (STAIR) to address trauma-related symptoms without targeting trauma. The goal of my practice is to strengthen individuals to help them create long-lasting positive effects in their lives.

Creative practices can often be a safer and more direct way of expressing, experiencing and understanding the most challenging emotions. I'm a creative arts therapist who has been working in New York for over fourteen years. I integrate my experience as a performer in Jazz, improvised and World music as well as my zen practice of over twenty years into a unique and effective approach to therapy. Using both verbal psychotherapy and creative art mediums in a safe and supportive environment I work to guide the therapeutic process towards achieving a client's unique goals. I specialize in working with clients with depression, anxiety, addiction, ASD, trauma and ADHD. I bring together psychodynamic depth and mindfulness — sometimes with music, sometimes without. My work is warm, exploratory, and grounded in who you actually are. No previous musical experience required. If you're curious whether this approach could work for you, I'd love to find out together. Reach out through my profile to schedule a consultation — no commitment required, just a conversation. New York clients: I offer telehealth across the state, so wherever you are, we can connect.
Hello! My name is Alicia Capobianco, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York. I have been working in a clinical capacity with individuals, children, and families throughout the course of my career. I obtained my Master of Social Work degree from New York University Silver School of Social Work. I have experience working with clients of all ages and helping them to meet their clinical goals while providing them with the necessary tools to support their growth. My practice is founded on Evidence Based Interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I utilize a trauma informed lens to apply a different way of interpreting past experiences. I strongly believe that everyone who seeks therapy should be in control of their treatment, I work collaboratively with my clients to meet them where they are at. Seeking out therapy is not something that is easy to do, and for some it can be a frightening and challenging time. I strive to create a comfortable and nurturing environment to help with navigating this time of self reflection and growth. Together we will identify skills and techniques to help you reduce your symptoms and work toward meeting your goals.
I am a Postdoctoral psychologist who works with individuals that are hoping to improve their relationship with themselves and with others. I have experience working with adults across the lifespan experiencing a variety of difficulties. My area of specialty is with clients who have a history of disordered eating patterns, as well as a history of trauma. In therapy I encourage clients to be curious about their experiences, and my hope is that together we will deepen our understanding of how your past may be currently impacting your present. My approach with clients is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe personal change occurs best when we notice how our experiences show up for us mentally and physically, so my work often involves active use of the mind-body connection. I use an integrated trauma-informed approach to treatment, which may include the use of somatic internal family systems, relational, psychodynamic, humanistic, feminist therapy and I incorporate techniques from CBT and DBT when appropriate. I provide embodied centered therapy for people struggling in their relationship with food, all with the goal for clients to foster awareness of self, connection with others, and to reconnect to their capacity for full-bodied engagement with the world. Additionally, I offer comprehensive psychological assessments that include both cognitive and personality assessment tools. These assessments are best suited for individuals who are wondering if they may have ADHD and can help to clarify any other mental health diagnostic questions. The results will be provided to you via a written report, which can be used to further your treatment or to justify accommodations to support your needs. I currently am only seeing clients virtually. Please reach out to connect and see if we’d be a good fit. I look forward to meeting you!

I specializes in helping people who are having difficulty controlling their gambling. Behaviors such as staying up all night gambling, not attending classes or going to work, isolating, gambling until all your money is gone, lying or stealing to get money with which to gamble, chasing your losses, physically hurting yourself, and thoughts of suicide are common among people who have a gambling problem. Recognizing that you have a problem is the first step and asking for help is the second. Please contact me to take the most important step--doing something to stop the pain caused by problem gambling.
Hi there—I’m Molly! I work young adults and provide a supportive, nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. Clients often describe my style as warm, approachable, and genuinely engaged, bringing a steady “golden retriever energy” into the therapy space. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship and meeting each client where they are. For those who are interested, I am able to thoughtfully integrate a Christian, faith-based perspective into our work together. I welcome you to reach out with any questions about my approach or the therapy process. You can send me a message or give me a call to explore whether we might be a good fit. Thanks for stopping by!
I start with listening and seek to cultivate a perspective that enlivens, enlightens and unburdens. I use an integrative psychoanalytic approach founded in curiosity and collaboration to address problems relating to trauma, depression, anxiety or self-esteem that can undermine ones ability to thrive interpersonally, creatively, sexually or professionally. Whether it's a life-change, a search for meaning, creative blocks, frustration with the quality of relationships or something else, I will meet you there. Through listening and talking, we will explore internal experience and how it impacts relating to oneself and others. Beyond psychoanalysis. I am also a trained attachment-based EMDR therapist, a powerful modality to process trauma when words don't seem to cut it. I may also use CBT & mindfulness training. These approaches can help develop an ability to detect unhelpful thinking styles, a stronger mind to body connection, and an increased awareness in the present. To give you a chance to practice outside our sessions, I encourage meditation and journaling. With a background in anthropology, I have a special interest in how culture shapes each of us, and always consider the impact of your culture in context with the struggles you face.
