Therapists for college students near Boston College
I am a private therapist who works with clients in the areas of anxiety, social stress, and academic stress. I have worked with students who had eating disorders. I have experience working with individuals in school settings, as well as with college students and young professionals who are finding their way in the world of work. I welcome meeting you if my profile fits your needs. I also have a profile on the Psychology Today website, which you can access to find out more about me. I currently do not take insurance, but can give you information that you can use to submit to your insurance company for a rebate. I also offer a sliding scale fee if needed.
Having three children in their 20s who've experienced college and graduate school, and having been a university first year advisor for six years, I'm interested in helping students manage their transition to college, academic pressures, relationships, and the anxiety or depression that sometimes overwhelm us at this stage in life.
Sometimes the ways we learned to survive are the very things now keeping us stuck. If you’ve found yourself overthinking, constantly on edge, emotionally shut down, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or feeling like you’re carrying experiences your body never fully got to process, you are not alone! Therapy to me is not about judgment, fixing you, or forcing quick answers. It is about creating a space where you feel genuinely seen, safe, and understood while we begin making sense of what your mind and body have been holding. I offer trauma-informed, relational therapy grounded in evidence-based practice & deep compassion. Integrating ACT, IFS, and somatic approaches, I help adolescents and adults navigate complex trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, women's issues, identity exploration, and family transitions, including divorce and high conflict dynamics. As an MSW clinician with a background in psychology, criminal justice, trauma-informed advocacy, and mental health research, I bring clinical training and genuine humanity to my work. Healing isn't about becoming someone different. It's about understanding yourself with more clarity, compassion, and safety so you can live with greater freedom and connection!

The first step is the hardest, and it takes a lot of courage to do it. I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your path towards healing!

Getting the right psychiatric medication, and truly optimizing it, takes more than a prescription. My background as a psychotherapist sets my medication management approach apart: I bring a clinician's understanding of the whole person to every prescribing decision- comprehensive assessments, attentive follow-up, and genuine partnership as we work toward getting you feeling better as soon as possible. My experience spans community health, universities, private practice, and leading medical centers including McLean Hospital and MGH. I specialize in medication management for adults navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. I have advanced training serving LGBTQIA+ populations and I’m a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. My goal is not just symptom relief, but lasting improvement in how you feel and function day to day.
Hi! My name is Mari and I work at Ever Human Therapy, a private practice that aims to meet you where you are at in your therapy journey. I would love to work with you so take a look at my profile on our website to find out more!
I work primarily with those suffering from chronic illness. Difficult to treat medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, Lupus, etc. are often poorly understood, and it can be very difficult for patients to find the help and support they need. I teach my clients tools for coping with and managing every day life with these conditions, in addition to mind body medicine practices to help alleviate symptoms and to decrease stress. I have recently started offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy as a way to cope with life stressors or trauma.
Is anxiety or depression preventing you from enjoying your life? Are you feeling overwhelmed by stress or a major transition? Are you unable to move on from an upsetting or traumatic past experience? I help patients change patterns of behavior that are no longer working, and learn new and more effective ways of coping and engaging with life. I believe that the painful crises that usually bring people to therapy often contain opportunities for self understanding and growth that can be discovered and realized in a safe healing relationship. I work with people from diverse backgrounds struggling with a wide range of problems. I have training and experience in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral treatment, and draw on other approaches as needed. I have specialized expertise in the treatment of posttraumatic stress and other problems related to trauma and abuse. I especially enjoy working with young adults because I believe that there are unique opportunities during this time to make changes that can positively impact one's life trajectory.
As a therapist, I specialize in supporting young adults and couples as they navigate life’s transitions, relationships, and challenges. My client-centered approach explores root causes while building practical coping skills for daily life. Using a trauma-informed lens, I integrate yoga-based mindfulness and somatic practices to support nervous system regulation and deeper healing. Psychodynamic and narrative therapy help us understand how your worldview was shaped and how it influences your present. We may also incorporate IFS based parts work to gently explore and understand the different parts of your inner experience. With training in the Gottman Method, I help couples strengthen communication, connection, and trust. Together we focus on deepening friendship while managing the practical demands of partnership. You’ll learn tools for healthy conflict resolution and collaboration, remembering you are on the same team. I am committed to creating a nonjudgmental, compassionate space where you feel safe and supported. I understand that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
College can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. I specialize in working with college and graduate students who are navigating anxiety, academic stress, relationship challenges, identity exploration, life transitions, and the pressure to “have it all figured out.” Whether you’re adjusting to campus life, managing perfectionism, struggling with motivation, or feeling stuck, therapy can be a space to slow down and make sense of what you’re carrying. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and practical. You are the common denominator in your life, my aim is to help you navigate and understand the deeper patterns that shape your experience. My role is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move through this time in your life with more clarity and confidence.

I am the former psychotherapist at Harvard University, dedicated to Harvard Law School. After leaving, during the early pandemic, I appreciated the effectiveness of remote therapy and the convenience for my clients in the academic field – whether students or faculty. I have a fully remote practice and welcome your contacting me for a brief conversation so that we can see if it might be a good fit to work together. I have a lot of experience helping students in the fields of not only law, but also medicine, business, education, STEM and divinity, cope with the challenges of building their careers and professional vision in the context of both personal and professional challenges. I am also the former founder and director (for 20 years) of an adoption agency. I have a keen appreciation for the interests and challenges of members of the adoption triad. In over 30 years of clinical work, one of the key lessons I’ve learned is how important it is for clients to feel heard. Whether navigating challenging personal, academic or professional dilemmas, feeling understood is the first step in clients beginning to contemplate their available choices. I draw from a wide clinical knowledge base and broad training (family systems, CBT and other modalities) to help clients achieve their goals. Along the way, my hope is that clients feel increased personal power, greater confidence and ease as well as expanded capacity to connect with others.. I work remotely through video-conferencing, using a HIPAA compliant platform. Please feel free to email me to request a brief initial conversation so that we might see if it feels like a good fit to work together toward achieving your goals.

I utilize evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). My approach is strengths-based and person-centered, with the belief that therapy is not "one size fits all." We will work as a team to figure out what is most supportive and effective for you.
