Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
I'm a little weird and sarcastic and work best with clients who are a little weird and sarcastic. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma - this may include religious trauma, sexual assault, harrassment, bullying, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, violent crimes, accidents, incarceration, and refugee status. I also have experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and OCD, and those dealing with life transitions, including transition to and out of college, changes in identity and changes in religion/loss of faith.
Maybe what aches most is not the change itself, but the fear that someone you love is slipping out of reach — even if that someone is you. Everything feels different, yet somehow the same. One minute you are putting on pajamas, and the next you are spiraling because it is the first moment of quiet you have had all day. There is this gut feeling that your heart can no longer be bound with band-aids, but soul-searching is a lot before the alarm goes off tomorrow. You do not have to make sense of it all alone at midnight — that is what I am here for. I support clients ages 13–30s through this season of becoming — identity, relationships, independence, pressure, purpose, and transition. With evidence-based care and expressive arts, we use guided reflection, practical strategies, and creative exploration to turn overwhelm into clarity, awaken new direction, and find the light at the end of the tunnel. There is no perfect place to begin. Arrive as you are! I offer virtual therapy sessions for clients located in California, Indiana, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. I am available for a free 15-minute phone consultation, and I invite you to reach out. I look forward to connecting.

Transition. In one word, college comes with a lot of transition, a foot in two different worlds. Sometimes you just need someone to provide support and help you navigate these changes. Sometimes you've struggled with feelings like depression or anxiety for quite some time but maybe haven't had a name for it, thought everyone felt this way, or haven't had the opportunity to address it. Maybe you struggle with negative self-thoughts or have had life experiences that leave you struggling. These are some of the common challenges I've had the honor of addressing in my work with students.

Life can be difficult. Counseling shouldn’t be. When you’re struggling to cope with the challenges in your life, starting therapy is a courageous step toward change. In a complex world, we believe in straightforward, compassionate support. If you are feeling out of balance or in distress, it can feel defeating to reach out for help and be met with unreturned calls, waitlists, or therapists who are not taking new clients. Not addressing your issues with a professional can often lead to an increase of symptoms while you wait for your first appointment. We believe that you shouldn’t have to go through this alone. At Counseling Simplified, we help you feel better. We have no waitlists, evening and weekend appointments, and many of our therapists can see you within a week of your first contact. We make the process easy because we understand that you don’t need any more stress. At Counseling Simplified, we meet you where you are at and help you heal. At Counseling Simplified, we value your unique experiences and guide our sessions with genuine curiosity and we continually expand our areas of expertise to meet diverse needs. I'm Chelsea Horn, owner and founder of Wild Haven Counseling. I’ve been practicing as a licensed mental health counselor since 2018. My passion lies in helping adults and college students navigate life transitions, develop strengths, and find meaning and purpose. I’m skilled in treating anxiety, perfectionism, imposter feelings and self-doubt, depression, binge eating, and body image issues. In the therapy room, I combine evidence-based practices with a touch of humor and humanity. I see therapy as a space where the focus is entirely on you, where you can reflect on your experiences, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover what brings you joy and fulfillment. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for real change. My style is collaborative and conversational; I offer input and perspective, but I also recognize that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we’ll identify goals that feel meaningful to you. I often encourage clients to practice new skills outside of sessions, which helps build confidence and momentum in daily life. I also take a holistic approach to mental health, considering how emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being all connect. My philosophy centers on pursuing wholeness over perfection. Growth isn’t about getting everything right, it’s about showing up for yourself, learning along the way, and taking that first step toward change.
I am originally from California, but have called Colorado (Denver) my home for the last thirteen years. While I do miss the ocean, I love being in the mountains and all they have to offer. When I am not working, I am often playing in my garden, doing something in the kitchen, spending time with friends and family, or traveling. I am the same person during session as I am outside of session; laid back, a little goofy, genuinely curious about others’ lives, and compassionate. I use she/her pronouns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and am licensed to see clients in Colorado, Indiana, Florida and Nevada. I have been practicing therapy since 2013 and truly enjoy working with my clients. I love learning about how trauma and stress can impact our minds, bodies and nervous systems and the ways we can heal and start to feel better. I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist as well as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I often use a mixture of EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SE), attachment, parts focused, and mindfulness techniques to help clients begin to unpack stressful or traumatic events and begin to integrate a sense of healing back into their minds and bodies. These techniques can be helpful for clients struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms, who have experienced one or more traumatic events, substance use, emotion regulation, or uncomfortable body sensations.
Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope. I provide a warm and nurturing, non-judgmental space that will enable you to explore and work on your goals. Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path" - Anonymous
Scared (insert adjective) may be what you feel, brave is what you are. College- an excellent time to think about who you are and who you are becoming- not what you are doing, no, this can change. Who do you BE? And do you remember that you are loved for that being; that you are ok and not ok? Let's enjoy story, silence, and shifting the maps in our heads until we feel more confident traveling this path and seeing where it leads.
To the outside world, it may appear that you have it all together yet no matter how hard you try you suffer from anxiety, self doubt, people pleasing, burn out, and guilt when putting your own needs first and something needs to change. My role as a therapist is to bring light to those parts of yourself which have been blocking you from making changes and step into a life of wholeness and authenticity. As a trauma focused therapist, I integrate therapeutic techniques that encourage insight-building and guidance on taking actionable steps toward healing. Areas of specialization include trauma, anxiety, systemic abuse, life transitions, attachment wounds, imposter syndrome, identity exploration, women's issues, and college student mental health. My services are telehealth only to provide services in the comfort of your own home.
