If you are trying to figure out who you are and where you’re headed, you are not alone. This stage of life can feel exciting one minute and overwhelming the next. You might look like you have it together on the outside, but inside you are stressed, anxious, burned out, or unsure of yourself. The students I work best with are thoughtful, self-aware, and trying hard to “do things right.” You care about your future. You want meaningful relationships. You want to succeed. But you may also feel pressure from family, academics, social media, or your own expectations. Maybe you overthink everything. Maybe you procrastinate and then criticize yourself for it. Maybe you feel lonely even when you are surrounded by people. Some of the students I work with are: -Adjusting to college life or struggling with the transition -Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly “on edge” -Navigating identity questions around career, relationships, culture, or sexuality -Recovering from a breakup or friendship shift -Dealing with perfectionism or fear of failure -Questioning whether they’re “good enough” In our work together, we create space to slow down and really listen to what’s going on beneath the surface. Therapy is something we build together, a place to be honest, ask hard questions, and try new ways of coping. We will make sense of what you’re feeling, practice tools to manage stress and self-doubt, and help you move toward a life that feels more grounded and more like your own. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to reach out. If you’are willing to show up as you are, we can start from there.

Are you hoping to work with a therapist who’s relaxed, grounded, genuinely meets you where you are, and brings honesty, openness, and a touch of spark? You’re in the right place! I aim to create a space where you can show up as your unfiltered self, feel supported through whatever life brings, and grow into the version of yourself you’re ready to embrace.

My goal as a therapist is to assist clients to build a more fulfilling life by fostering an understanding of themselves and the complexity of our human emotion. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. Currently accepting new clients who live in Texas! You’re exhausted and worn out from the daily tasks of life and the emotions that feel all too heavy right now. You find yourself losing track of time, endlessly scrolling through the internet just to take your mind off things. You crave connection with those around you, but the heaviness of your emotions makes you feel like you’re a burden to those closest to you. On the inside, you battle with thoughts of all the ways that you do not measure up, and the feeling of never being good enough. You worry if people really want to be your friend and know you for you. The feelings of anxiety and loneliness feel closest to you. You are usually the one to put others first, but you worry if people really see you and know you for you. You crave authentic connection and a space to be heard, seen, and accepted for who you truly are, and not what others expect you to be. You want to belong, to vulnerably share life with friends and family, to love and be loved without fear. You’ve tried figuring out things on your own and even dab in the latest self-help trend, but you have found that it’s not working as you had imagined. You are used to being self-sufficient and sorting out things on your own, but you have come to realize that you need help. It takes courage to ask for help, we are not meant to do life alone but are made for connection. You see this, you know this, you seek this. I understand that hesitancy can accompany the idea of therapy, so I prioritize creating a safe and trusting space that allows you to come out of hiding and show up as yourself, as you feel seen and heard to process your thoughts and emotions. During our time together we will explore your story and the deeper meanings and root causes of your pain, childhood experiences, difficult thoughts, and behavior patterns. Through a lens of curiosity, you will gain greater insight and new tools to bring about the change that you have been desiring. Sessions with me are filled with compassion, warmth, non-judgment, and authenticity. I want to help you reconnect with yourself and leave those worries behind, so you can live a more peaceful life. Christian counseling is available for clients requesting it. Together, we will get you to a place where you are able to show up as yourself in relationships, meaningfully connect with those around you, to enjoy the life that you are currently living. Feel free to send a message, to see if we will be a good fit!

Welcome! I work with people who may be struggling with a variety of different challenges from grieving the loss of a pet, struggling with thoughts of the future in a world that seems to be falling apart, and people struggling with gender identity and sexual orientation. I offer an LGBTQ and neurodivergent-affirming environment. While I pull from gold standard techniques such as EMDR, Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, and CBT-I to address a variety of issues and symptoms, I take a collaborative approach to tailor our work together to best fit your needs. I have over ten years of experience in the mental health field both as a researcher and as a psychotherapist. The first five years of my career was spent at the Montrose Center in Houston, Texas where I worked with the LGBTQ community as a psychotherapist and a case manager. This valuable experience urged me to take my career further by going into private practice where I am honored to work with members of the LGBTQ community as well as those outside it.
