Therapists for college students near Houston, TX
I’m an LPC with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and 2 years of clinical experience in both nonprofit and private practice settings. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change on their own, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward in relationships or in life. My approach is eclectic and personalized, drawing from CBT, DBT, humanistic, gestalt, existential, and narrative therapy. I believe in unconditional positive regard, autonomy, and transparency—clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to help guide and support meaningful, lasting change in a way that fits who they are. In our first session, we complete a biopsychosocial assessment, talk through your goals, and make space for any questions you have about therapy. From there, we collaborate on a plan that feels comfortable and supportive, gradually exploring your history and patterns while building toward practical, forward-focused growth.
Whether you are struggling with concerns from the past 10 years, 10 months, or even 10 hours, the past does not have to define your future. Change IS possible! Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Kirsten works with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, neurodivergence, and other emotional difficulties. She is passionate about creating a warm, supportive environment where clients feel safe to be themselves, explore their experiences, and move toward meaningful healing and growth. Her therapeutic approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based while integrating CBT, DBT, and her EMDR training when clinically appropriate. Kirsten believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and tailors treatment to each client's unique goals, experiences, and values. She is committed to creating an affirming, nonjudgmental space where clients of all backgrounds feel respected and supported.

In a few weeks, you could be unstuck from what’s holding you back. Let’s get started. If you’ve never been in therapy, I’ll make this easy. If you're coming back, I’ll honor what you already know. We’ll get to know each other and understand what you'd like to change. During our sessions, you will always be the expert in how your life works, and I’ll share with you a research-based approach to creating mental health. We'll work toward goals as a team, in a process that fits your unique background (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation identity, religious affiliation); respecting your values is important to me. I use treatments that we know work. These therapies not only help you overcome problems you’re experiencing right now, but I’ll teach you skills to resolve future problem that might come your way, too. While handling emotions in a new way might feel strange, I’ll be there to walk you through the process. I completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Utah, and fellowship in trauma psychology at the South Texas VA. From the outside, you have it all together, but on the inside you feel disconnected. A gap between the life you’re living and the person you want to be. This disconnection is often a way our mind and body protect us, but overtime it leaves us feeling stuck or empty, in a cycle of doing rather than being. Whether we are navigating relationship concerns or echoes from the past, my focus is meeting you where you are. I work with individuals and couples to peel back these layers and rebuild trust and safety within yourself and others. Together, we work on understanding, untangling, and exploring emotions, behaviors, and past experiences and how they shape you, your world, and your relationships. We create trust and connection within yourself. It isn’t about control or correction. It’s about empowering you with the clarity and trust needed to meet challenges from a place true to you. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment that welcomes all orientations, relationships, and lifestyles. My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and unique to you. You are not alone, when you're ready, I'm here. If you'd like to learn more, reach out for a free consultation. I'd love to work with you. Email is the best way to get in touch.
