Our work is collaborative, judgment-free, and always tailored to who you are and what you need most. If your parent or caregiver is supporting you financially through therapy, that's something we can absolutely talk about—together, we’ll make sure this feels like a valuable, empowering experience for you, and a meaningful investment in your wellbeing. The areas we delve into will include your stressors, relationships, sexuality, dreams, fantasies, anger, anxieties, and the unconscious motivations for your decisions.

Dr. Marguerat Degaard is a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Her academic journey started in Switzerland with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Geneva. She worked as a Dance Therapist for 14 years, developing, implementing and supervising creative art therapies programs. In 2005 Dr. Marguerat Degaard received her PhD from Adelphi University. Her approach is integrative and flexible greatly influenced and informed by her artistic background. Her many years of work in the mental health field has taught her profound humility in the face of the deepest layers of humanity. She views psychotherapy as an in-depth collaborative and creative process which expands and frees self-expressions allowing untold stories to be told, contradictions to be bridged, and emotions to be touched or re-touched towards richer and healthier self-understanding and life experiences. She offers psychotherapeutic services in English and French. Her method will encourage and mobilize what she calls the 3 Cs in her patients, i.e. courage, curiosity and creativity. She will support the courage it takes to embark on the therapeutic journey, she will foster a deep sense of curiosity in one’s experiences that help shape one’s humanity through self-reflection and self-exploration work, and the use of creativity to allow new spaces to open and be expanded.

Are you waking up already tired, dreading another video meeting, wondering how work that once excited you became so draining? Friends think you’re doing great, yet inside you feel pressure to keep advancing and wonder what it’s all for. Relationships can feel just as complicated, especially when desire clashes with your values or what you “should” want. You may feel lonely even around people. You’re good at thinking logically, but thinking harder hasn’t helped; it keeps you stuck. You want relief, clarity, and a steadier sense of self in work and relationships. I help you step out of overthinking, self-criticism, overwhelm, and repeating relationship loops. We’ll pause when you’d normally push harder, notice thoughts, emotions, and body cues, and make room for a different response. We’ll connect patterns to past experiences, clarify your values, and hold values and feelings without shame so choices feel aligned. If you’ve tried self-help or even AI to “figure it out” and still feel stuck, you’re not alone. Therapy is different: a real relationship where you don’t have to carry the hidden parts by yourself, and support can go deeper than insight alone. We’ll go at a pace that feels safe and honest. If this resonates, reach out to schedule a first session.
