Therapists for college students near New York University
I believe in healing through corrective experiences. It is possible to heal from trauma & anxiety, rather than just learning coping with it! I prefer to use methods that are designed to alleviate the distress associated with painful memories. This includes Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and other Experiential Therapy modalities that are proven to be equally as effective in a virtual setting.

My approach emphasizes relationship and rapport building, empathy, and compassion. You are the writer of your own story, but together we can work on developing tools tailored to your specific needs. My background includes working with adolescents and adults from various communities and cultures experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, cancer, PTSD, mood disorders, executive dysfunction, or disruption in family and/or relationship dynamics. We are a team of licensed mental health counselors who have joined together to increase the access to mental health counseling services in our community. We sought out a space in the community where we could offer the services we are trained to provide. From the windows of our offices, you can see a blossoming cherry tree. We adopted this tree as a symbol of our work because it reminds us of the ways that being open to change leads to resilience. ompassionate and thoughtful individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. We each have unique skills and and experience. We love what we do, and we do it with passion.
Therapy is an important step to reach comfort with the uncomfortable. I am deeply committed to working with you to progress through difficult situations. I look forward to working with you to gain an understanding of the emotional challenges in front of you and collaborate to explore ways to mitigate these challenges. College is a time where we are often unsure of exactly what we are struggling with or why we feel overwhelmed by our emotional responses - I am here to work with you on how to proceed. I utilize an integrative approach informed by CBT, DBT, ACT, and relational therapeutic principles. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental, while occasionally using humor to illustrate understanding and develop strong bonds with my patients. I have extensive experience working with young adults and college students, as most of my work within my private practice centers on this developmental period. I am always available for free confidential consultations to address any questions or concerns.
I work with college students and young adults who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of themselves. Many of the people I work with are navigating big life transitions, academic challenges, family stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, or feeling pressure to “have it all figured out.” You might be someone who overthinks, struggles with motivation or confidence, feels different from others, or finds yourself repeating patterns in relationships that leave you feeling hurt or misunderstood. Some clients are coping with substance use (their own or someone else’s), growing up in difficult family systems, or trying to heal from experiences that still affect them today. The clients I work best with are open to self-reflection and want support making meaningful changes, even if they’re not exactly sure where to start. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you better understand yourself, build practical tools, and feel more grounded and confident in your life.

If you're here, part of you is ready for something to change. You might be dealing with anxiety that won't let up, burnout from trying to keep up with everything on your plate, or motivation that seems to have disappeared right when you need it most. Or maybe you're someone who feels things intensely, or struggles to start tasks and follow through. Some days it might feel like you're managing everyone else's expectations more than your own. I work with college and graduate students, especially women, who are navigating these kinds of challenges alongside the pressures of school. Many of my clients are highly sensitive or neurodivergent, or are starting to wonder if they might be. I also work with students carrying attachment wounds, old patterns from family or past relationships that keep showing up in new relationships, whether with friends, partners, or roommates. I have experience working with students adjusting to a new environment, whether that's the transition into college life, a new culture, or being far from home for the first time. If you're Spanish-speaking or navigating life between cultures, I offer sessions in Spanish and bring real understanding of that experience into our work together. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps you get to know the different parts of yourself, like the part that worries, the part that pushes you to keep going no matter what, or the part that shuts down when things feel like too much. You don't have to have it all figured out to reach out. Together, we work with these parts with curiosity and compassion, so you can feel calmer, more confident, and more like yourself.
I provide relational, culturally responsive therapy that centers your lived experiences and honors the ways your relationships, history, and identity shape who you are today. I approach therapy as a collaborative space where we can slow down, reflect, and better understand patterns that may be contributing to distress or disconnection. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and relational cultural therapy. This means I pay close attention to how past and present relationships influence emotions, behaviors, and self-understanding, and how growth often happens through connection, authenticity, and mutual understanding. I also integrate trauma-informed and strengths-based
Life so far has been fairly manageable. However, you are now experiencing emotions you have never experienced before. Life has changed for better or worse, and you are finding it difficult to cope and comprehend your reaction. It is hard to pinpoint what you are feeling, and it may make it difficult to communicate to the ones you love. Perhaps a specific memory has come up for you and you are taken by surprise. Why is this happening now? You want answers. You want to gain a better understanding of what you are experiencing and how to move forward. My passion lies in helping others build confidence, find their voice, and connect to what matters most within as they navigate the many twists and unexpected turns life may present itself with. It is a great honor to be welcomed into the sharing of one's unique life experiences. I truly enjoy walking alongside the individuals I have the pleasure of working with on their journey to gaining a better understanding of themselves and what they want out of life. If this resonates with you, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen with curiosity, offer thoughtful guidance, and help you uncover resources and possibilities that may be difficult to see on your own. Starting college or graduate school —or navigating your way through them—can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many students find themselves facing stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity questions, academic pressure, or major life transitions, often for the first time. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I specialize in working with college students and young adults, and I understand the unique pressures of university life—from managing expectations and finding your place, to coping with self-doubt, loneliness, or burnout. Whether you’re struggling or simply wanting to better understand yourself and grow, therapy can be a space where things begin to feel more manageable and more hopeful. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe that meaningful change happens in a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship, where you feel safe to be yourself and explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. Together, we’ll work at your pace to better understand your experiences, build resilience, and develop tools that help you move forward with greater confidence and clarity. I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, including working in university counseling centers, where I supported students through many of the challenges you may be facing now. I’ve worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities, and I am committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space where you feel seen and respected. I also have experience working with international students, students with disabilities and chronic health conditions, Deaf and hard of hearing students, and those navigating complex family or cultural dynamics. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step—but it can also be the beginning of feeling more like yourself again. You deserve support, understanding, and a space to grow. I would be honored to be part of that process with you.
