Starting therapy in college can feel intimidating, especially when you're juggling classes, relationships, family expectations, and trying to figure out who you are and what you want. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure about the future, or like you're supposed to have it all together when things feel anything but. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I work with college students who are navigating things like self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and trouble setting boundaries. In therapy, we’ll look at the patterns behind what’s keeping you stuck and find practical, manageable ways to help you feel more confident and in control. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I pull from approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and reconnect with what actually matters to you. I’m LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for people of all identities and backgrounds. Whether you’re coming in with a specific concern or just a feeling that something’s off, I’m here to support you through it.

When we can sit with our feelings and examine our thoughts we have an increased ability to understand our decisions and behaviors as well as the choices that are available to us. We utilize a non judgmental and warm approach to fully understand where clients are in their journey. We believe our clients present us with an enormous gift by sharing their vulnerabilities and strengths; we take therapy seriously and hope that each session is productive and our clients leave with a broader understanding of themselves and what they can do in the moment to feel better. We openly welcome clients of color, immigrants, queer and trans* clients, and clients of all genders. We provide individual counseling to help each person identify their own strengths and contributions to creating a life worth living. We have many years of experience providing trauma focused work, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and internal family systems therapy. We are comfortable treating a number of diagnoses, histories, and symptoms, including, but not limited to: life adjustments, trauma, sexual abuse, adoption issues, attachment disruptions, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, difficulties with emotion regulation, issues of over control, self harming behaviors, and suicidal ideation.

I want counseling to be a positive and collaborative experience for everyone who steps through my door. I primarily work with adults and young adults to address a variety of symptoms, including ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, intellectual disabilities, OCD, substance use, and more. Together, we will work toward embracing your differences and using your strengths to help accomplish your goals. I use an eclectic approach to counseling, meaning that I use methods from a variety of disciplines based on what will benefit each unique person. Some of the disciplines that I often draw from include CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. You are the expert in your own life, I am here to help you reach your full potential and achieve your goals. My ultimate goal is to make you feel safe, comfortable, and free from judgement during our sessions. Creating a space where you can be your true, authentic self is one of my top priorities. I believe that sessions should be a collaborative space full of honesty, genuineness, and even some humor at times.

Beginning the work of therapy can bring up many emotions, and I am here to be with you through all of them. I approach therapy with reverence for your lived experience, nervous system, and desires for the future. I specialize in working with teenagers through adults to address concerns related to anxiety, depression, life transitions big or small, religion and identity, and family of origin issues. I’m passionate about working with parents to explore their own histories and ties to the present, as well as individuals seeking to understand their experience of neurodivergence or that of a loved one. I utilize a psychodynamic approach and draw from relational-cultural theory, polyvagal theory, and internal family systems. This means we will wonder together about the ways past experiences and relationships impact you in the present emotionally, mentally, and physically. I'm deeply committed to maintaining an anti-racist, neurodiversity-affirming, and queer-affirming practice, considering clients and their challenges in the context of oppressive systems. I know how challenging it can be to find a therapist who feels like a good fit, and I'd love to connect with you if anything in my approach resonates with your experiences.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My clinical experience encompasses working at multiple university counseling centers. There, I have supported students and postdocs of various ages (young adults to those in middle adulthood) through therapy. Whether you are navigating challenging life adjustments, the transition to college, anxiety, relationship concerns, concerns related to racial identity, grief, academic or career stress, or other concerns, there is hope for healing and growth. When it comes to therapy, I seek to empower clients to recognize their capabilities and move toward beneficial change. Through warmth, encouragement, and compassion, I aim to build a collaborative relationship with clients and create a safe, nonjudgmental space. I seek to meet each client's individual needs, believing there is no "one-size-fits-all” approach to treatment. To do this, I draw techniques from different modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindful self-compassion (MSC), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). If you are ready to take the next step and see if we are a good fit, I invite you to reach out.

I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, my goal is to provide space for those like me and others who have felt silenced and marginalized a majority of their lives. I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. If you find yourself experiencing things like depression and anxiety, or low self-esteem/self-concept, I may be a good fit for you. I have past experience working with clients on things like life adjustments (moving, end of a relationship, career change, etc.), grief and loss, day-to-day stressors, and relationship concerns - romantic, platonic, familial, and professional.

As a Licensed School Counselor and Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I know each of us face challenges, life transitions, and pain. The bulk of my work is dedicated to helping clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. Additionally, I have a passion for working with clients who are academically gifted or twice exceptional! I work with clients to bring meaning and understanding to how their thoughts, beliefs and life experiences impact their actions and related outcomes. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Exposure Response Prevention principles and interventions to encourage insight and behavioral change. I know seeking therapy and finding a therapist is a risk that feels scary to many. You’re used to keeping it together, even when it’s hard. Maybe you're the overthinker, the perfectionist, the one who’s always there for everyone else. I work with teens and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity, and life transitions. My style is warm, supportive, and grounded in trauma-informed CBT. As you prepare to address problem areas in your life, finding the right person to work with to help and support you as you move forward toward your goals, is the first step. My therapy practice focuses primarily on children, families and young adults. I believe that better communication and understanding can be key in building better relationships. Typical sessions involve the basics of support, and building on the existing strengths of a person as well as developing better techniques in managing difficult emotional problems. Psychoeducation, which involves helping to understand the mental health symptoms that are being presented and learning how to manage them, as well as skills to build deficits with anger control, social interactions and stress relief, are also taught. Working together on ways to decrease difficult symptoms, such as clients providing better self care skills, building strong coping skills and having improved perspectives is essential to a healthier well being. My role as your therapist is that through the supportive and close therapeutic relationship, you will gain insight and motivation to work toward change. I am currently licensed in NC, GA and am a Certified Telehealth Practitioner in Florida. I am only able to see clients virtually in FL and NC.
