She aims to meet clients where they are at, understand the nuance of their individual experiences, and build off their strengths to help them achieve their goals. Drawing on the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dr. Nestor takes an evidence-based, client-centered approach to therapy to foster coping skills and promote individual flourishing. Dr. Nestor provides individual therapy for older adolescents and young adults with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, executive dysfunction, social difficulties, stress, chronic pain, grief, and challenges related to life transitions. My approach to therapy is active, relational, and result-oriented, encouraging clients to take hold of their life and find the meaning life holds for them. I work with individuals, couples, and families to address concerns with relationships, identity, intimacy and sexuality, and spirituality, in addition to general psychological problems. I serve as Director of Cambridge Counseling Associates and have served as lecturer and clinical instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School for more than twenty years, in addition to serving on the Advisory Board of the Dr. Phil Show, where I have participated since its inception. Therapy opens the door to a rewarding process for personal freedom, growth, and fulfillment by understanding and changing patterns and routines that may have made you feel stuck, unproductive, and unhappy. My goal is to help you experience your true self to fully engage your life. (See drchirban.com or cambridgecounseling.com) My specializations include relationships, sexuality, and spirituality. I also assist individuals and families working through divorce and serve as a Guardian ad litem for the State of Massachusetts. I have written several books in psychology and religion and write two weekly blogs for Psychology Today on parenting and spirituality.
I help clients to learn, grow, and resolve their problems -- whether big or small, simple or complicated. Those problems may include: self-defeating habits, hurtful relationship patterns, overwhelming anxiety, or debilitating depression. Milton Erickson is the psychiatrist, who revolutionized approaches to both psychotherapy and hypnosis. I practice in his tradition. That means: I don't just listen. I also reframe problems you might think unsolvable, change perspectives that stymie you, awaken dormant strengths, and teach lessons and skills you're missing. I am presently providing teletherapy services only to new clients. Although I do provide insight-oriented therapy to clients, who want better to understand themselves, most of my work is short term with clients, who merely want to solve their problems as quickly as possible.
Hello! I have been fortunate to have worked with a diverse array of client populations throughout my career, but currently specialize in and am passionate about working with college students, young adults, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC women. My clinical areas of specialty and expertise include anxiety, depression, ADHD, family dynamics, social/relationship challenges, and academic and life transitions.
I am a clinical social worker and expressive art therapist. I'm passionate about art and mental health education and use both to support people as they develop skills and learn therapeutic tools to manage symptoms. In individual therapy, I enjoy working with young adults to help them develop positive relationships with themselves. I want to learn about you, how you think, how you learned those things, and what truly energizes you. Therapy can focus on processing the past using art and EMDR while also focusing on falling in love with the present. My speciality is using expressive art in therapy. Whether you believe yourself to be creative or not, my hope is to guide you through different ways to use art for relaxation and self-expression in group, individual, and family sessions. Sometimes words are not enough.
I provide both English and Mandarin virtual psychotherapy to individuals and families. My approaches include CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS and MI, and I adapt the approach that resonates with my clients; my practice also focuses on our automatic thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, as well as exploring cultural identity, navigating cultural dilemmas, and releasing intergenerational tension. I have more than 7 years of experience helping individuals with mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, cultural identity issues, and generational conflict. I am also equipped with the knowledge to work with individuals with special needs, such as autism and developmental disabilities.
I help students who are eager to thrive academically, socially, personally, and professionally. We process and develop strengths to navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship and identity issues, to help you achieve your goals and actualize your vision.
I am a licensed mental health counselor providing psychotherapy in a private practice setting to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I work with my clients to identify their goals and improve their overall wellness by focusing on their strengths. I do so through a supportive, therapeutic relationship. When in session, my objective is to help you feel safe and free of judgment. Please note that I do not have evening availability at this time.
During my career of being a therapist for over a decade, I have found that the working relationship is pivotal for any change to happen in therapy. I take great care to foster a sense of emotional safety so exploration, processing, and developing new understandings and patterns of interaction with one’s self, others, and the world may take place. I enjoy working with undergraduate and graduate university students, young adults, and working professionals who experience difficulties with general distress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and ADHD. By using elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, contemporary psychodynamic therapy, and emotional focused therapy I ally with people to aid them in learning more about themselves while dislodging obstacles that may be present in their lives and relationships. I am passionate about helping people who are currently feeling like they are struggling in their lives and working with them to achieve what they envision their life to be through either weekly individual or couple therapy sessions. If you desire to see lasting changes in your work, life, and your relationships, I encourage you to reach out to me, so we can talk more about what you are trying to achieve through therapy.
