Therapists for college students near 30309
Everyone experiences wounds in life, be it loss, illness, abuse, a difficult relationship, neglect, or any other overwhelming issue. Sometimes even experiences that "should" bring joy like graduating, starting a new job, marriage, or having children can render us feeling like we are in crisis - or stuck. We work with clients to help them get unstuck from feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional reactivity. When we can identify the patterns that keep us in pain, we can begin to develop new ways to cope and manage the stress of our lives.

All of the animals on the farm have been hand raised with therapeutic purposes in mind. Our clients have a unique opportunity to walk and talk on the nature trail, chat while walking a goat or just lounging in the variety of outdoor sitting spaces. Our three therapists offer a wide range of life and work experiences and an eclectic array of counseling approaches. If this feels like it might be a good fit for you, we welcome the opportunity to talk with you. Thank you for considering Hawk's Nest Counseling.

Hello my name is McCall Coker and welcome to Balance & Recovery Counseling! I believe you hold all the answers to your story. I am here to listen, support, and bring a non-judgmental and compassionate perspective to your experiences, as well as challenge you appropriately. Don't forget the laughter! Yes, therapy can be heavy and hard but I believe sharing moments of laughter in a healthy way can also heal the soul. I work best with clients who are seeking or curious about change even if they don't know where to start. I think therapy is a journey and just scheduling an appointment is a step of bravery. My specialties are working with individuals dealing with eating disorders/disordered eating as well as dealing with alcohol and other drug use/misuse. This is a place where you can be yourself and courageously take one step at a time to get to where you want to be. I would be honored to go on an adventure with you and hope to hear from you soon!

If you are feeling stuck or conflicted, or would like to go deeper to process what you know is holding you back from living fully, I may be able to help. We can explore all of your particularity and weirdness, including things you love and find frustrating or shameful about yourself. All of your identities are welcome in therapy, even those that seem to conflict. Many of the people I am privileged to work with are exploring LGBTQ identities and/or religious faith or spirituality.

The hardest part about getting help is that first step where we have to ask. It takes a lot of courage to admit we don't have the right tools for the job, especially when that job is our happiness. Maybe we push people away, or get angry out of nowhere, or carry so much stress we can't sleep. Burnout and depression weigh us down and make it hard to connect with those around us. Our sessions are active and genuine. I work in session to help lower anxiety, build confidence, work through trauma, and to face fear courageously. Our sessions will spend time understanding your values and goals and what you need. I want you to feel like your time was well spent in our sessions. You've already started your journey of getting help and building your skills for a more fulfilling life, and that's awesome! It'll be hard but the fact that you've already begun shows you have strength. If this resonates with you, then I look forward to hearing from you!
Greetings! I'm Viola & I'm deeply committed to helping people understand & accept their entire selves. As a neurodivergent clinician, I am familiar with the discomfort that comes from lacking a holistic understanding of one's self. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated by the question: “Why do we, as humans, do what we do?” Ten years into my career, that fascination has only grown. I’ve spent years mapping the way our brain, conditioning, and hidden beliefs drive our behaviors and more importantly, how we can better understand them. But here’s the truth: talk therapy alone doesn’t always go deep enough. That’s why I integrated Shadow Work into my practice. When you explore the parts of yourself you’ve buried—the fears, shame, and old wounds, you stop running from them and start reclaiming your power. That’s where profound healing happens. I don’t believe in surface-level fixes. I believe in bold, lasting transformation. If you’re ready to stop avoiding the parts of yourself that scare you, and start living as your most authentic, unapologetic self, you’re exactly where you need to be. So I strive to create a space for you to safely sit with the confusion or discomfort of your past that led to behaviors not representative of your true self. You cannot live authentically when you deny parts of yourself that you believe to be less than or undesirable!

College life can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. I understand the unique stressors that come with being a college student—academic pressure, life transitions, relationships, identity exploration, and balancing it all. As a former college student myself, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience into the work we do together. I have experience working with young adults ages 18–25 and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and person-centered modalities. I believe therapy should meet you where you are and honor your individual experiences and strengths. I would love to support you as you navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and begin healing the parts of you that need care and attention. You don’t have to do this alone.
My practice is via telehealth. I treat individuals ages 18-78. I work with the client to reach goals they set.

Hi, My name is Heather and I have been working as an individual and family therapist for over 10 years. Through my professional experiences, I have found a love for working with younger adult clients and currently work with many undergraduate and graduate college student. I enjoy my work in helping to identify what isn't working for clients in their individual lives or in their relationships and finding alternative ways of thinking and responding that support mental wellness. My experience is is mostly in the areas of symptoms commonly experienced by those struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD. I work mainly with cognitive models of therapy and am trained in EMDR, and have experience with other theories of psychology that I interweave into my practice, depending on what clients needs are and what they respond positively to. Ultimately I think the connection between therapist and client is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship and I truly enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level through the clinical work we engage in. I'd appreciate your consideration in your searches for a therapist to work with.
