"My life looks completely different than I thought it would, and I don't know what to do with that." "I feel like I should be over it by now, but I'm not." "I'm tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix." "My mind won't stop, and I'm exhausted from trying to keep up with it." Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone. Naming what's underneath the pain can be a relief in itself. From there, we can begin listening to what's in your heart — clarifying what you value and hope for — and working together toward the changes that bring healing, meaning, and joy. I am passionate about working with those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma — including spiritual trauma — grief, and health-related challenges. The relationship we build is the foundation of this work. I use a person-centered, trauma-informed approach with CBT, bringing warmth and deep respect for your story. Your goals and your pace guide the process. If this sounds like what you've been looking for, I'd welcome the chance to connect. Hi, I am Heather. I work with clients who feel ready to explore challenges that may be affecting their emotional well-being, relationships, or daily life. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment concerns, family conflict, and life transitions. I also support individuals and families navigating the unique stressors associated with the judicial system. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, improving relationships, and creating meaningful, lasting change. My approach is eclectic and individualized, recognizing that no single method works for everyone. I integrate Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based interventions, and other evidence based approaches to meet each client's unique needs. You have already taken an important step by looking for support. I believe healing happens through connection, understanding, and practical change. Together, we will gather an understanding of what limitations and concerns you have surrounding the therapeutic process and work together to build the connection for a positive therapeutic experience.
I was born and raised in Montana and have a genuine passion for nature and the outdoors. I received my Bachelors in Psychology at Montana State University in 2001. I then pursued my Masters of Social Work degree and graduated in 2008 from the University of Montana. This graduate program had a focus on providing a social justice and integrated practitioner perspective. I have an eclectic style that can be tailored to each unique individual. My primary therapeutic methods include Mindfulness Based, Holistic, Exposure, Narrative, Cognitive and Behavioral, Strengths Based & Solution Focused Therapies. Amy provides a non-judgmental and compassionate environment that often helps people feel comfortable. A true passion of mine is structuring therapeutic activities for clients to express, process, increase self-awareness, and de-stress from life’s challenging and developmental experiences. My past work experiences have been in several areas. I have worked in healthcare with the geriatric population, provided school based mental health to kids from grades kindergarten through 12th grade, substance abuse counseling to college aged kids, crisis intervention with the armed forces and a private practice providing therapeutic services to a wide range of people, families and couples that include helping folks who struggle with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and life transitions/changes.
You look like you have it together—but inside, it feels exhausting. Maybe your thoughts about food take up more space than you’d like, or you swing between being “on track” and overwhelmed. You might hold yourself to high standards and still feel like you’re falling short. From the outside, it looks like discipline—but inside, it feels like anxiety and pressure. I help women step out of these cycles, using therapy and somatic practices to build flexibility, self-trust, and more ease in your body and life. I bring 8 years of experience as a therapist, and have practiced at residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the single most important factor in achieving success in therapy, and I will make sure you feel supported, and that we are aligned in achieving your goals. Life is challenging, and you shouldn't have to do it alone. I will help you navigate barriers to being present, and the need to distract with food, exercise, and obsessive thoughts about your body. I use a warm, yet direct approach. Together, we'll defuse from unhelpful thoughts, identify your strengths, and build a life you actually like.
Finding the right support is a meaningful first step, and I'm glad you're here. As a Limited License Counselor Candidate, I specialize in anxiety, life transitions, and depression, working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Whether you're navigating a difficult season, working through persistent worry, or simply looking for a space to grow, I'm here to walk alongside you. Empathy, integrity, and collaboration are at the heart of how I show up for every person I work with. Together, we'll build insight, develop practical coping skills, and work toward the meaningful growth you're looking for. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we'll work together to build practical coping skills that help you better manage anxiety, depression, emotional stress, and life transitions. But beyond the modalities, what matters most to me is that you feel truly heard. Your unique experiences, values, and goals shape everything we do together. Care here is strengths-based and tailored to who you are, because you deserve more than a one-size-fits-all approach. You deserve a space that feels personal, safe, and empowering, and that's exactly what I'm committed to creating for you. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as an elementary school teacher, where I witnessed firsthand the growing need for mental health support among students and their families. These years were transformative, deepening my understanding of how compassionate, accessible care can change lives and reinforcing my commitment to making a real difference in the people I serve. That purpose drives everything I bring to our sessions now, including a strong foundation of empathy and a genuine investment in your well-being. Reading, biking, and spending time with family are some of the things that bring me joy and keep me grounded. Visiting Michigan and spending time along the shores of Lake Huron holds a special place in my heart, connecting me to the people and places I love most.

With experience in high-acuity and residential settings, I specialize in trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, and acute crisis intervention for adolescents, adults, and families. This includes psychosis, suicidality, substance use, trauma, and behavioral challenges. Together, we'll work on identifying triggers, managing intense emotions, developing effective communication skills, and building healthy coping skills that feel authentic and sustainable, so you can feel safe, emotionally aware, and equipped for lasting healing. Many of my patients feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected, and struggle with trust, especially within family relationships. If this resonates, you’re not alone. At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to meeting you where you are, as a compassionate, genuine, and trustworthy partner every step of the way. Person-centered, strengths-based, and compassionate care isn't just a framework. It's how I show up for every person I work with. That’s why you can always expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your unique needs and goals shape each session, and where you always feel safe and heard while building emotional awareness. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, trauma-informed care, Mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused techniques, we'll work to manage intense emotions, strengthen relationships, and build tools for lasting well-being. My approach is calm, collaborative, and warm, with room for authenticity and laughter, because healing feels comes more naturally when the space truly feels like your own. My path to becoming a therapist began with a desire to create positive change by helping those who feel unheard, unseen, or unable to help themselves. That belief has always been at the core of this work: everyone deserves to feel valued, understood, and supported. Experience in high-acuity and residential settings deepened that commitment, working alongside adolescents and families through their hardest moments. When you work with me, you'll find someone who can sit with you through the difficult times while bringing lightness when it's needed. Every session is designed to feel genuine, approachable, and fully in support of your growth. Outside of the therapy room, life is full and family centered. As a mom, much of my time is spent cheering on my kids across a wide range of activities. including wrestling, football, volleyball, track, basketball, boxing, and cheerleading. Giving back to the community is something that matters close to home, too. Supporting my husband's work building a youth football team that creates opportunities for young people from lower-income communities with a passion for the game is a source of real pride and purpose.
