Therapists for college students near 78741
Hi, my name is Katie and I started Rise Up Therapy seven years ago to create a safe space for clients to explore all the different parts of themselves. I love working with college students where life can get overwhelming fast. College is a powerful time for self-growth, and my approach is warm, relational, and practical, creating a safe space where you feel seen and supported. I use a gospel-centered framework when desired, while respecting where you are in your faith, and focus on building self-awareness, healthy boundaries, and coping tools for daily life. I’m trained in EMDR and support students processing trauma, chronic stress, and life transitions so they can move forward with clarity and confidence.
Welcome! You are taking a brave first step by seeking therapy. It is natural to want to avoid what is difficult and scary. Unfortunately, this avoidance often reinforces fear and slows healing. My goal is to support you in facing what feels overwhelming at a pace that is safe and sustainable. For the past five years, I have worked primarily with survivors of sexual and relationship abuse, individuals coping with loss, and individuals navigating difficult life transitions. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space that is safe, warm, and trauma-informed. I utilize a relational-approach informed by evidence-based practice. Some people enter therapy with well-defined goals, while others begin therapy simply with the desire to change. I strive to help you define your individual therapeutic goals and to support you towards these goals at a pace that is comfortable for you. Research has shown that more important to any modality utilized by your therapist is your connection and trust in them. I believe that therapy works best when it is grounded in a genuine and collaborative relationship. I look forward to speaking with you further!
Hello! I’m Dr. Ryne Pulido. I’m a husband, father, and psychologist in Texas. I’m so excited to help folks build lives experienced as worth living and sharing. I started out as a therapist for children, adolescents, and young adults. Initially, “young adult” referred to college students. Then “young adult” expanded to include medical and law school students. And then it expanded to include early career professionals. Now, it has expanded to early career professionals struggling to #adult. Your struggle is real. Many of my clients struggle with intense emotional pain stemming from feelings of unlovability and fear of rejection. Their pain acts like an emotional dictator that commands them to withdraw from friends, family, work, school, hobbies, passions, interests, and other activities that make life worth living. Increasingly distant from their values (who they want to be deep inside their hearts) and goals (what they want to accomplish), they feel directionless and unsure of their best life because they’re so focused on protecting themselves from emotional pain. If this sounds like you, know it doesn’t have to be this way. You deserve a life worth living and sharing. Imagine what it would be like to control your actions (the things you do and say) amidst an emotional storm. What if you could be the person you want to be and move toward your goals just 20% more often? What would your relationships be like? Where would your career be? How much better would your sleep be?! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) I utilize a modern form of the tried-and-true Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Although ACT involves a radically new approach to happiness, over 1,000 clinical trials have been published in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating its effectiveness with diverse populations struggling with a wide range of psychological problems. ACT is focused on creating richer, fuller, and more meaningful lives rather than solely symptom reduction. When your life is bigger, the pain is smaller by comparison. ACT is a very active form of therapy. It’s not just talking about your problems and feelings (although there is always space for that). You will learn practical skills to move from struggling to flourishing. We will move through the program step-by-step, learning skills that build on each other. The good news is the skills are easy to learn and effective. You are headed into the unknown. Unfortunately, counseling and therapy is not 100% effective. Although I accept commercial insurance (if you go through Alma) and the Lotus Fund, the risk of committing time, money, effort, and heart to something that doesn’t work out is very real. I also can’t promise that you won’t feel uncomfortable, judged, and misunderstood, but you will have permission to express yourself and stop anything that is uncomfortable. I’ll listen with an open mind and you’re in the driver’s seat. But you are not alone. It’s your journey, but we’re a team—working together to help you become the person you want to be and build the life you want to live and share. All brains matter. I’ve spent my entire professional career working with neurodivergent folks and their families. I have a special place in my heart for ADHDers, autistics, and people with strong personalities. Are you in Texas, prefer virtual care, and ready to get to work? You can contact me by email (admin@rynepulidophd.com) or by calling or texting 512-537-4743. (Note it can take up to 72 hours for me to return a call, email, or text. If you are in a mental health emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest ER). …and if you’re sort of ready that’s cool too. Reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation! Need financial help? I offer sliding-scale fee slots via Open Path Collective. These slots are extremely limited, so please get in touch with me before signing up to work with me. I also accept the Lotus Fund via the Asian Mental Health Collective.
Many of the college students I work with are balancing classes, jobs, relationships, and questions about who they are—and that can feel overwhelming. I often help students who are navigating academic stress, identity changes, and family expectations, while also working to feel more confident and handle life’s challenges without burning out. As a Latino and LGBTQ+ therapist, I understand how culture, family, and identity can shape your college experience and sometimes add extra pressure. In our work together, I use proven counseling methods like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to give you practical tools for managing emotions and relationships. I create a safe, welcoming space where your whole self is valued, and where you can explore who you are, challenge old beliefs, and build skills to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
I am a licensed psychologist who has training, experience, and expertise in sport/performance psychology. This means I can help people who are challenged with excessive anxiety and/or sadness. I also spent almost 2 years working as a psychologist embedded in a U.S. special forces unit in Europe so PTSD is something with which I have great familiarity. I look forward to having the opportunity to help you learn how to optimally help yourself.

Life can feel overwhelming—especially when anxiety, depression, or hopelessness take over. Therapy offers a space to reclaim your sense of self, find clarity, and begin the journey toward healing. You are allowed to take up space! You are strong and resilient. You can live a life that is fulfilling, and you deserve to know that you have value. You deserve to have hope for the future and to feel empowered about who you are. You are the expert of your own life—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating complex trauma, including experiences rooted in childhood, family, and relationships. I also work with clients experiencing issues related to LGBTQIA+ (such as stress, acceptance or identity), self-esteem, attachment, anxiety, and depression. I am trained in Trauma Focused CBT and utilize approaches from Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that healing is possible. Together, we can unlearn harmful patterns, heal from past wounds, and build tools for resilience and self-acceptance.
I’m a trauma-informed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who helps adults heal from the inside out. I specialize in working with those impacted by trauma, childhood abuse, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients arrive feeling disconnected from themselves—exhausted by survival mode, unsure how to feel safe, or burdened by past experiences they were never given space to process. I provide a calm, supportive space where you don’t have to explain everything or be “strong” all the time. Together, we’ll explore what your nervous system has been holding and begin building the safety, clarity, and emotional regulation you need to feel more grounded and whole. My approach supports the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses—because healing isn't just in the mind; it happens through the body, too. I tailor each session to you. Whether you’re navigating trauma responses, managing daily anxiety, or trying to reconnect with who you are beneath the coping strategies, we will move at your pace—not the pace of pressure or performance. My work integrates evidence-based practices with deep compassion and curiosity. I offer therapy online only, serving adults in Texas and Hawai‘i, with appointments available Monday through Thursday.

You aren't broken or damaged, you're a hero who needs help on their quest. I specialize in working with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, grief, chronic pain, and performance challenges. I help by integrating EMDR, Internal Family Systems, narrative, and strength-based therapies into a collaborative roadmap. In our first sessions, you can expect a thorough assessment, introduction to trauma-focused techniques like EMDR, and co-creation of a safe, strengths-focused environment. My practice is unique because I frame therapy as your hero’s journey, empowering you to harness resilience with evidence-based interventions. I’m Chad Starrak, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Questline Counseling. Each session opens a doorway—an invitation to journey inward, where forgotten truths and hidden strength reside. This isn’t a path to fix what’s broken, but to remember what’s sacred. Together, we’ll listen beneath the surface and follow the threads that lead you home to yourself.

As a modern therapist, I take an active and collaborative approach. I’m not just going to focus on the symptoms being presented - I want to understand the root cause behind your struggles and genuinely get to know you as a human. I love working with women who are motivated to grow and have a desire to understand themselves on a deeper level. Through our work together, we’ll unpack your story to understand your barriers and help you cultivate a new level of self-awareness. We’ll explore how you can implement new tools to better navigate your emotions, address relationship challenges, and gain confidence within. I’ll maintain a balance of supporting you and gently challenging you so that you can begin living an intentional and fulfilling life - whatever that looks like to you. Hi there! I'm passionate about helping students who want to work through Complex PSTD or complex trauma, functional depression & anxiety, and self esteem concerns. My goal is to help you get unstuck from a cycle of over functioning, people pleasing, disconnection and overwhelm, to a place of grounding, clarity and connection. I don’t see therapy as a one size fits all approach; I enjoy fostering a space that’s gender affirming and body positive, as well as sex positive and kink friendly/affirming. I also strive to provide a warm, supportive and judgment-free space that is culture affirming and trauma informed, with an understanding that you are the expert on your life. In my opinion, one of the most important factors in getting to a place of grounding and healing, is having a strong connection and fit with your therapist. In our work together, you’ll find that my style is warm, compassionate, and empathetic. From a person-centered approach, I like to pull in from different therapies and tools as needed depending on what is going on for you. I’m not afraid to talk about anything you need to! I approach things from a place of curiosity and non-judgment.
Hello! My name is Madeline & I specialize in ADHD, grief work, & women's issues around anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, & work-life balance. In my work with young and adult women (16+), I've found that through modeling genuine self-acceptance and self-compassion (instead of just talking about how important it is), my clients are more receptive to extending the same grace & kindness they give to others to themselves. Because I strongly emphasize authenticity in the work that I do, I show up to each session exactly as I am. Human. While I share therapeutically relevant experiences, anecdotes and thoughts often, they are always done with intention and care. I believe that it is incredibly difficult to form a meaningful connection with another person if the relationship is entirely one-sided. I've found that my approach to therapy differs in that I like to use a lot humor in sessions - both dark and light - which definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay! I am also unapologetically myself, and some days that looks a bit different than others. I'd be wasting my time and yours if I pretended to be someone I'm not or that some days weren't messy, chaotic garbage for me, too. Pretending is not conducive to connection, and I believe my approach to therapy is a testament to that fact. The therapeutic relationship is the bedrock of any therapy success story. I strive to connect to each of my clients on a deep and meaningful level by remaining authentic, genuine, and honest. I provide sincere feedback, offer many skills that can be used outside of sessions, and equip clients with the tools they need to be successful and resilient when life feels like it's just too much. While some issues may be very solution-focused and direct, others may take time. The space I offer is not only safe and nonjudgmental, it is also patient. I will sit with you in the hurt, the pain, the loss, the ache, the hopelessness, and the chaos. I will sit with you knowing that there is an end in sight, and will hold your hand as we find our way out of that darkness together.

College or graduate school is meant to be an experience of self-discovery, but you may find yourself isolating, worrying, anxious, or overwhelmed. If you are looking to feel in control of your life again and get back to enjoying life, you have come to the right place! As someone who experiences anxiety myself and struggled to get into the groove of college, I I get it! I would love to support you in coping with any anxiety or stress you are currently experiencing to help you feel relief and get back that enjoyment of life! Please reach out today.
