My practice is characterized by a practical, solution-focused approach; rather than simply identifying obstacles, we collaborate to develop actionable strategies for overcoming them. I provide a secure, supportive environment where Christian values are integrated into the therapeutic process as we work toward your lasting peace and restoration.
My passion is in working with women struggling with relationships and balancing family and other priorities. I use a respectful, direct and collaborative approach in my sessions and believe that interpersonal relationships are a key factor in successfully navigating life. Transitions and challenges can offer us an opportunity to find greater understanding of purpose, more meaningful relationships, and increased confidence and personal gratification. I understand how difficult the process of counseling can be, but I also know the rewards that come from true healing. I am a Christian Counselor who brings extensive expertise in working with women struggling with issues such as marriage struggles, singleness, divorce, anxiety, codependency, communication, infertility/adoption/new moms. I also specialize in helping to navigate struggles with having a child with a diagnosis of Autism and I am a certified PEERS group leader. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor in the State of Texas and have been practicing for 19 years. I received my master's degree in counseling from Dallas Baptist University and also completed a master's degree (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary. I'm also certified to use "Prepare and Enrich" for pre-marital and marriage counseling.
I help college and graduate students navigate relationships, family expectations, identity, academic and career stress, and major life transitions. My approach is relational, culturally responsive, and grounded in helping you better understand yourself and your patterns so you can feel more connected, confident, and clear about what comes next. As a bilingual and bicultural therapist with a background in both mental health and law, I understand that the challenges students face often involve more than one part of their lives. I provide a supportive space to work through relationships, belonging, cultural or family pressures, uncertainty, and change.
I see both teens and adults for any number of concerns that show up in daily life. Whether you just want to understand your brain better, are dealing with past or current traumas, struggling with crippling depression or anxiety, I've seen it all. We will work together using an eclectic approach of treatment modalities that will allow you to feel validated and encouraged along your growth. I can’t wait for you to fall more in love with who you truly are.
I am a passionate and dedicated individual known for my open-mindedness, honesty, and attentive ear. I believe that empathy, understanding, and a genuine caring spirit must be present in every interaction that I have with individuals. I also bring a unique blend of sincerity and insight into every session that I have with my clients. As an open-minded individual, I embrace diversity and value differing perspectives in my clients. I believe that everyone has positive qualities that will help them succeed in life once they can identify, focus, and build on these qualities. My job is to create a trusting, inclusive, open environment where my clients can work on becoming the best version of themselves possible. I will work with you to highlight your strengths, instill positivity within your life, offer support and encouragement, and provide constructive feedback when needed.

Heather loves to help her clients achieve the goals they set for themselves. She works hard to create a warm, relaxing and open minded environment for her clients to work. Heather has experience helping families meet each other where they are and improving the relationships; helping those struggling with addictions and how to work through the process; helping those with stress/depression/grief/school/relationship and work struggles are some examples of the type of clients Heather helps. She can help guide her clients to the goals they set and live the life they want and deserve. Heather understands that life can throw curve balls to all and wants to do what she can to help you from where you are. Heather helps based on what the client or clients are looking for. She will always have a plan for your sessions, but truly wants her clients to have a voice in how they work through whatever issues are at hand. When Heather is not working, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys being outside, road trips, being on the water somewhere, building her faith and finding a good spot to read a book. Heather cannot wait to help you achieve the goals you have and would love to talk with you further about how she can assist you.

Let’s be honest—being a college student or young adult can feel like a lot. You’re expected to make big life decisions, manage responsibilities, and somehow have a plan for your future… all at the same time. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what you’re doing. You might be comparing yourself to others, questioning your path, or just trying to keep up day-to-day. The truth is, most people are figuring it out as they go—even if it doesn’t look like it. I work with young adults to create a space where you can be real. You don’t have to have everything together or know all the answers. Whether you’re dealing with stress, life transitions, or just feeling off, this is a place where you can talk things through without judgment. Together, we can make sense of what you’re going through, find ways to cope, and help you feel a little more grounded and confident moving forward. You don’t have to do this alone.
Despite your best effort you feel weighed down or worried, and you are not making the progress you expected. You need a space where your worries, faith, and cultural experiences are all taken seriously — so you can start moving through life with increased clarity, peace and capacity. Through evidence-based therapy integrated with Christian principles, I help professionals reduce anxiety, recover from burnout, and show up more effectively in work and relationships that matter most. Reaching out takes courage — and it is one of the most supportive and strategic decisions you can make for yourself. You were made for more than surviving. I would be honored to support your journey. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, awkward, or scary, and those feelings are completely valid. I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and comfortable space where you can show up as you are. If you’re ready to take the next step, I would be happy to help you I offer a holistic, creative, individualized approach to therapy that meets each client where they are. In a few weeks, you could be unstuck from what’s holding you back. Let’s get started. If you’ve never been in therapy, I’ll make this easy. If you're coming back, I’ll honor what you already know. We’ll get to know each other and understand what you'd like to change. During our sessions, you will always be the expert in how your life works, and I’ll share with you a research-based approach to creating mental health. We'll work toward goals as a team, in a process that fits your unique background (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation identity, religious affiliation); respecting your values is important to me. I use treatments that we know work. These therapies not only help you overcome problems you’re experiencing right now, but I’ll teach you skills to resolve future problem that might come your way, too. While handling emotions in a new way might feel strange, I’ll be there to walk you through the process. I completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Utah, and fellowship in trauma psychology at the South Texas VA. I live in San Antonio, Texas, where I am a professor at the University of Texas School of Medicine. In my free time, I love fitness and exploring small Texas towns.
