That feeling when ... you can't describe the feeling. Overwhelmed, or maybe anxious. Frustrated. Alone. Misunderstood. Stuck. Unable to see your way forward. I've been there, and I've spent years developing tools to share with you and help guide you on another path. Whether you need help navigating a new phase in your life, need new tools for facing sudden or unexpected changes, or are looking for fresh perspectives, I can help you find your brave and move forward with intention and joy. I have a Master's degree in Community Counseling and have been a counselor for 13 years. What will counseling with me look like? Expect me to be honest, friendly, and direct, and to be willing to laugh and cry with you. You will be in a safe environment where you can explore your feelings and your relationships without judgment. Some days you may need a good listener and some days you might want some new perspective, and I am here to provide both. However, as we get to know each other, I will challenge you to set and make progress towards your goals. Although I use a variety of theories to guide me in my work, you will most likely learn a lot of cognitive behavioral techniques working with me. We will move at your pace, but we will examine what you think, and why you think it, to help you understand your feelings. Understanding your feelings, and how they connect to your thoughts and actions, will be your first step in setting goals towards making the changes you want to see in your life.
Hi, I’m glad you’re here. College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. If you're feeling stuck, stressed, or unsure about your next steps, you're not alone. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I’ve spent 25 years working with students as a Dean and Provost. I understand the pressure to succeed, the identity questions, and the quiet burnout that can come with trying to do it all. I work best with students who are thoughtful, motivated, and ready to talk things through—even if they’re not sure where to start. Whether you're navigating a big transition, feeling anxious or lost, or just need a space to breathe and be real, I’m here to help. No judgment. No jargon. Just support that makes sense for where you are right now. Let’s talk—you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I offer video sessions for residents of Texas and in person sessions in my Houston, Texas office. I love helping people who struggle with setting boundaries, fearing disappointing others, and navigating their own authentic path in life. I particularly enjoy working with people who have experienced religious trauma from a high control or highly conservative religion, who are choosing not to have children, or who are questioning diet culture and working to accept their bodies as they are. Having the ability to express yourself freely and without judgment is an essential part of therapy, and the relationship between client and therapist is a key aspect of this. As a social worker, I recognize the importance of human relationships and the environment we live in, as well as the negative impact they have on our ability to function. I utilize a person-centered, strengths based approach to understand individuals as a whole, and work collaboratively with clients to address their challenges and reach their goals. I provide individual therapy focusing on anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Identifying as a nonbinary lesbian myself, I understand how difficult it is to find a competent provider with whom you feel safe and understood. If you’ve made it this far, I encourage you to take the next step and reach out so we can see if this would be a good fit for both of us.

I believe that people are perfectly imperfect. They are beautiful and spectacular. People can also become stuck, not okay, and unable to live a fulfilling life. That’s where I come in. As a passionate and certified Mental Health Counselor, my experience allows me to understand the best ways to address each client’s needs in an effective manner. I am flexible in my approach and use collaboration as the basis of my therapy.
College is a lot. Between classes, relationships, family expectations, work, and figuring out who you are, it can feel like you’re carrying more than anyone realizes. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, burnout, life transitions, relationships, homesickness, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we’re here to help. We’re here to help you build confidence, find balance, and move forward with support that feels human. In-person and virtual appointments available.
It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different “parts” of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Let's work together to talk about your struggles and how we can put a plan in place to better to yourself!
Hi! I'm Brittney, a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Reflection and Grace Counseling, offering telehealth therapy to students throughout Texas. College is new territory to navigate for anyone. You're managing your own schedule, navigating new relationships, and maybe questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself — all while submitting your assignments by 11:59pm before it's late. If you've noticed a little more anxiety creeping in, more self-doubt than you expected, or a general sense that everyone else has it "all figured out"...that's actually really normal. And also a great time to talk to someone. I work with adults who are tired of shrinking themselves to keep the peace and ready to build a relationship with themselves that actually feels real. My approach is warm, grounded, and judgment-free. You don't have to perform okayness here. This chapter is a big one. Let's make sure you're not navigating it alone.

As a parent of a medically complex child and a person with my own chronic health conditions, I often see people become weary when navigating the chronic illness journey. Despite being smart, determined, strong, and compassionate, they begin to feel overwhelmed by life. They feel betrayed by their body. They are unsure of what abilities they, or their loved one, will have in the future and what that means for their sense of who they are. They face disappointment, anger, or judgement from friends and family who don’t understand the challenges they are facing. I want those fellow travelers to know: you deserve to find peace even in the midst of difficulty. You deserve to define and redefine who you are. Hope is not out of your reach. If you want to navigate uncertainty without losing yourself in the process, I’d love to help you. You don’t have to continue alone. Contact me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to see how I can help.
