Therapists for college students near 77005
Personal Statement Hi! I’m Mary Margaret! I’m mental health therapist with a passion for supporting individuals, specifically older adolescents and young adults, through lifestyle transitions. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages navigating school challenges, new medical diagnosis, and life transitions. My experience in diverse settings, including hospitals and schools, has shown me that no matter where you are in life, having compassion and support makes all the difference. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and work collaboratively with each client to tailor strategies that fit their unique needs and aspirations. I utilize a cognitive behavioral framework, integrating motivational interviewing, solution focused strategies, and a person-centered approach to support meaningful and lasting change. If you’re looking for a therapist who is empathetic, experienced, and dedicated to helping you navigate life's challenges, I'm here to help. Together, we can work towards finding confidence, balance, and growth.
I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist. I completed my Bachelor’s at University of Missouri-Columbia in 2002 and her Master’s at Northern Illinois University in 2005. I am currently licensed in Texas and Missouri. My specialities are working with individuals, couples, families and children dealing with divorce/separation, blended families, and absent parents. I have also worked with a variety of individuals including those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, families dealing with substance abuse/alcoholism, and those exposed to neighborhood violence. I like cognitive behavior and systems theory as an approach to therapy and will point out roles, rules, and dynamics that often play out in families in order to facilitate change. I offer only telehealth/video sessions so you don't have to leave the comforts of your own home.
Through play therapy, even young children (ages 3+) can express big feelings in a safe and nurturing way. I support children experiencing family changes—such as divorce, separation, or parenting transitions—while helping them build coping skills, confidence, and healthy communication. I also work with teens and adults navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, and self-worth challenges. My approach is encouraging, supportive, and focused on helping each client feel understood and empowered. Using play-based techniques and parent–child interaction strategies, I guide children in expressing emotions, developing self-regulation, and improving interactions at home and school. I also offer parents practical tools and psychoeducation to continue the progress outside the therapy room. For clients who wish to incorporate faith or spirituality into their healing, I provide an integrated approach that honors and supports those values. Whether you’re seeking support for your child, teen, or yourself, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward growth, healing, and emotional well-being.
How many of you agree that sometimes LIFE can be difficult? There are so many factors and layers that affect your mood, energy and overall mental health. With my education, background and tools, I can help you navigate the stressors that help you manage schoolwork, relationships and the relationship you have with yourself.
Hello! My name is Madeline & I specialize in ADHD, grief work, & women's issues around anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, & work-life balance. In my work with young and adult women (16+), I've found that through modeling genuine self-acceptance and self-compassion (instead of just talking about how important it is), my clients are more receptive to extending the same grace & kindness they give to others to themselves. Because I strongly emphasize authenticity in the work that I do, I show up to each session exactly as I am. Human. While I share therapeutically relevant experiences, anecdotes and thoughts often, they are always done with intention and care. I believe that it is incredibly difficult to form a meaningful connection with another person if the relationship is entirely one-sided. I've found that my approach to therapy differs in that I like to use a lot humor in sessions - both dark and light - which definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay! I am also unapologetically myself, and some days that looks a bit different than others. I'd be wasting my time and yours if I pretended to be someone I'm not or that some days weren't messy, chaotic garbage for me, too. Pretending is not conducive to connection, and I believe my approach to therapy is a testament to that fact. The therapeutic relationship is the bedrock of any therapy success story. I strive to connect to each of my clients on a deep and meaningful level by remaining authentic, genuine, and honest. I provide sincere feedback, offer many skills that can be used outside of sessions, and equip clients with the tools they need to be successful and resilient when life feels like it's just too much. While some issues may be very solution-focused and direct, others may take time. The space I offer is not only safe and nonjudgmental, it is also patient. I will sit with you in the hurt, the pain, the loss, the ache, the hopelessness, and the chaos. I will sit with you knowing that there is an end in sight, and will hold your hand as we find our way out of that darkness together.

The students I connect with most are often feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where they’re headed. Many of them are juggling school, relationships, family pressure, and trying to figure out who they are — all at once. They may look like they have it all together, but inside, they're feeling anxious, burnt out, or like they’re falling behind. What they all have in common is a desire for change — even if they’re not sure what that change looks like yet. They’re open to talking things through, getting real about what’s going on, and learning how to take small, manageable steps forward. If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. Therapy is a space where we can figure things out together — no judgment, no pressure, just support and tools that actually make sense for your life.
I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in helping adults who struggle with self-esteem, cultural and identity concerns, relationship issues, trauma recovery, as well as depression and anxiety. During the course of therapy, while you can expect me to be supportive of you, it's also my pledge to not shy away from challenging you to make changes when appropriate. Together, we will partner up to explore what works for you and your unique situation. Let's talk.
Are you hoping to work with a therapist who’s relaxed, grounded, genuinely meets you where you are, and brings honesty, openness, and a touch of spark? You’re in the right place! I aim to create a space where you can show up as your unfiltered self, feel supported through whatever life brings, and grow into the version of yourself you’re ready to embrace.

The transition from high school to college can be a struggle for many students, who may experience feelings of anxiety, boundaries, and guilt during this time. Anxiety can manifest itself in a variety of different ways, such as people-pleasing behaviors, fear, perfectionism, and a general feeling of dissatisfaction. College is about boundaries; learning when to say yes and when to say no to both internal and external pressures. Establishing boundaries is important for the well-being of college students so that they don’t feel overwhelmed with stress or anxiety during this time of transition. If you're feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about your next steps, our individual therapy services can help. We'll work with you to develop a plan that addresses the specific challenges you're facing, and provides you with the tools and support you need to succeed.
