At EmBODY Confidence, we support neurodivergent women and teens who struggle with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, low self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation. Our approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and self-understanding, helping you feel truly at home in your body without shame or apology. You want to trust your emotions, take up space, eat without guilt, and show up fully in your life. We are here to help you get there with compassion, clarity, and courage. Together, we explore the deeper roots of your struggles, build awareness of the systems that created them, and develop tools for lasting change. We work collaboratively, because you know yourself and your body best. We are a fat-positive, anti-diet, LGBTQIA+, and gender-affirming practice aligned with Health at Every SizeĀ® (HAES). EmBODY Confidence is neurodivergent-affirming and committed to creating a space where every body, identity, and mind is welcomed and safe. Research shows that neurodivergent women and LGBTQIA+ individuals are more likely to experience eating disorders or disordered eating patterns than cisgender individuals. Unfortunately, traditional treatment models often fail to meet their unique needs. Our work bridges that gap with affirming, specialized care designed specifically for you. You do not have to do this alone. Healing is possible and you are absolutely worthy of it.

I'm excited you're here! Therapeutic relationships can be an incredibly powerful resource for accessing your truth, increasing self-love, and healing through connection. My aim as a therapist is to foster a safe, nonjudgmental space that supports clients in divesting from narratives of self-pathology, rewriting their stories in empowering ways, and in feeling more grounded and more joyful in their daily lives. My practice is rooted in a social justice frame and a belief that symptoms are most often related to the trauma of lived experiences of oppression and discrimination, not due to internal failing. I work with clients who need help managing anxiety, exploring identity, managing life transitions, managing symptoms of trauma, and undoing internalized white supremacy. I offer a politicized lens and believe in the connection between relational healing and collective liberation. I intend for therapy to be an affirming, healing and celebratory space. For those pursuing gender affirming surgeries or HRT, I'm happy to provide letters for your insurance/surgeon. I identify as White, queer, trans, nonbinary, fat, and neurodiverse (ADHD). As of August 2025, I have availability for virtual clients. Please feel free to reach out - Iād love to chat about potentially working together!
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and itās completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you donāt have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If youāre considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.

I provide individual, couples, and family therapy in person in Philadelphia, and I can see clients virtually in most states including New York. Because I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and was the director of Penn's OāBrien Center for Addiction Treatment, I have extensive experience with the needs of Penn students. I work well with student athletes, including those who are recovering from injuries. I am very familiar with the application processes for medical school, veterinary school, law school, and business school--and with careers in competitive industries such as consulting, investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, and real estate development. I can help students with burnout and academic stress as well as anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt. In addition to working with Penn Students, I also have experience with students from NYU, Georgetown, the University of Michigan, Yale, Brown, Fordham, Drexel, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, St. Joe's, Cornell, the University of Delaware, the University of Pittsburgh, American University, Penn State, Thomas Jefferson University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and many other schools. I have helped students to find meaningful romantic relationships and to heal earlier relationship injuries that may be getting in the way of intimacy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be very helpful for overcoming childhood and relationship wounding. More broadly, I am skilled at helping with career coaching, anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, grief, loneliness and addiction. I also work with people to improve their relationships with social media and screens. My style is nonjudgmental and flexible. I often use EMDR to help people to work through stressful or traumatic events and to better understand themselves. Depending on the clientās goals, I can integrate CBT, DBT, and solution-oriented approaches. I have extensive training in IFS (Internal Family Systems) and, for couples, IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out). I also have specialized training in the CRAFT approach for how to talk to loved ones about addictive behaviors without hurting the relationship. Using EMDR, I can help people to address the root causes of complex issues like addiction. My background is in positive psychology and addiction. My postdoctoral fellowship at Penn was in positive psychology. From that I learned to help people to use their strengths to build happier lives and careers.
Hi-- I am Alaina. I am a therapist with a specialization in the treatment of OCD and other neurodivergent disorders such as ADHD and ASD. I work with clients to access freedom from their anxiety. Through the use of Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), I colloboarte with clients to develop tolerance of their levels of distress. It is never shocking to hear that life is scary and uncertain. I do not aim to expel those fears, but rather help you see that -all feelings- are temporary and in reaching out for help, you are showcasing the very first step in unhooking from fears or core beliefs that prevent you from leading a values driven life.
I'm a little weird and sarcastic and work best with clients who are a little weird and sarcastic. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma - this may include religious trauma, sexual assault, harrassment, bullying, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, violent crimes, accidents, incarceration, and refugee status. I also have experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and OCD, and those dealing with life transitions, including transition to and out of college, changes in identity and changes in religion/loss of faith.
I love being a counselor and deeply enjoy the collaborative process of psychotherapy. I bring personal warmth, respectful curiosity, and genuine care for you as a person into our work together. My enthusiasm is blended with a naturally gentle demeanor, respect for you and your experiences, and commitment to principles of social justice. Whether youāre reaching out for personal enrichment, general emotional support, or specific mental health concerns, I can be a helpful collaborator for a variety of purposes. I provide individual therapy that is grounded in social consciousness and focused on your needs. It is a common and welcome scenario to be uncertain about our direction at the outset. Weāll figure it out together by understanding your interests and concerns, as well as the interpersonal, cultural, and sociopolitical dynamics interacting with them. The focus of our work can encompass anxiety, depression, LGBTGEQIAP+ affirming therapy, transitions and life changes, self-concept/ compassion, collaborative assessment and diagnosis, grief and bereavement, interpersonal skills, stressor-related issues, and other concerns. While Iām eager to work with adults of any age, Iām especially experienced with helping young adults navigate heavy existential questions, identity development, political distress, and career and academic exploration. Prior to counseling, I was a student affairs professional at several different universities, and consider that background important to many aspects of my identity as a counselor. The purpose of our work will unfold through a meaningful therapeutic relationship, prioritizing your self-expertise and personal strengths in conjunction with my theoretical approach. Although each personās therapeutic process is unique, our work can involve developing insight from emotional experience, re-contextualizing suffering through political and socio-economic critique, interpreting thematic patterns for new ways of relating to self and others, constructing meaning to restore or enhance agency, and building relational empowerment for social change. I grew up in Pennsylvania and recently returned after three years in Houston, TX and another ten years living in three other states. In addition to counseling, I enjoy running, learning, travelling, coffee, reading, movies, and ice cream. Most especially, I cherish quality time with my spouse, family, and multiple pets.

I do two things really well - listen and empathize. You and your story are unique. My job is to help you set goals and develop a plan to set the path for our work together. I strive to create a safe, inclusive space for open sharing and reflection. My role is not to judge or tell you what you should do. My role is to empower and support you to be your best self even if that sometimes means challenging you to promote change. I work with young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or general life stress. The world itself impacts how we move through it particularly for members of neurodivergent and BIPOC communities. I offer a 15 minute phone consult to see if we vibe.
