Therapists for college students near 19104
Hi, I'm Alex. I work with young adults who experience the stress of going through life's transitions. I often find that clients experience perfectionism, shame, and guilt. Growing up, if we missed out on empathy, emotional validation, encouragement, or secure connection, we may be saddled with the belief that we are "not worthy", or "never good enough". We may struggle to accept our authentic self and be true to ourselves when we are going through difficult emotions. To feel confident and connected in relationships we need to keep showing up where we are fully seen and loved, flaws and all. I help clients work towards peace in their lives and oneness with themselves. I encourage clients to honor what once served them while letting go of what no longer serves them in relationships. I also work with individuals effected by cycles of trauma, addiction, and disconnection. I approach therapy from a relational, trauma-informed, and culturally competent perspective. EMDR and art making techniques can be used for radical self expression, to update clients' survival brain "software" and complete neural network integration. Yoga and mindfulness based techniques are used to establish a safe connection with the body. Please connect with me, let's talk briefly to see if we'd be a good fit! I am flexible with scheduling to find a time that accommodates your needs. We can meet in person at the office or online via a HIPAA compliant virtual platform. You are worthy of a safe productive opportunity to process your experiences and be supported in your journey.
I love what I do, and I know why I do it. Since 2007 my focus has been coming along side of people and assisting them with challenges they face in life to become the most authentic and genuine person they were meant to be. In my own journey I've come to accept and appreciate the gifts I've been given, even if they're seemingly unrelated. I love my work as a therapist and I will always be passionate about performing music. How the two coexist within me is the journey I'm on. My focus has been in becoming a better therapist each day ... but I also know I'll never stop playing guitar and performing music, it's part of who I am. Book with me now by clicking on my Headway website. For insurances I work through Headway. My private practice is "out of pocket" at $50/session making therapy affordable to those without insurance or high copay. I provide a statement so you can be reimbursed. So finances are not an obstacle we can find an affordable rate for you. I am very passionate about understanding and helping people with the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, distressful emotions, and broken relationships. This has lead me into further study on how to offer a Trauma-Informed Therapy Approach. One therapy method is EMDR therapy, but other options can be utilized based on your needs. We can talk soon.

My name is Sandra Dickinson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a mother to four. I specialize in trauma and anxiety and the issues that come with loss, disappointment, and uncertainty. Many of the clients I work with are navigating life transitions—such as adjusting to college life, are in difficult relationships, many are struggling with pregnancy and postpartum, infertility, adoption, parenting, or caregiving. Are you struggling with your relationships with others? Do you ever feel like you’re too much or too sensitive? Ever feel like your brain may work differently then what society says is “normal”? Struggling with your relationship with sex, sexuality, and/or gender identity? I support you in working towards self acceptance and emotional regulation. I’ve spent a majority of my career working with young adults in transitional and transformative periods of their life, but I feel comfortable working with a wide range of ages and experiences. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and provide gender-affirming care. I am also sex positive, kink friendly, and poly-aware with a goal to provide a judgement free space to explore these topics. I’m warm, patient, non-judgmental, and sometimes a little bit funny. I appreciate the ability to slow things down and approach therapeutic work at the speed you need it to be.
