The ValueCore philosophy is that you have absolute value based on your intrinsic worth. This is how we see you; and the core from which we offer treatment. With you, we may utilize talk therapy, medication management, education, evaluation, encouragement, accountability, and self-discovery, which leads to insight, direction, and meaningful change. Together we work to foster the realization that happiness is the rule for you and not the exception. As you accept your personal value and implement the changes you need for yourself, we hope you will be free to grow, relax and recreate, socialize, work and serve others, educate, and live a fulfilling life. I help adults, couples, and families who feel trapped in a cycle of loneliness and disconnection, cut off from themselves, and unhappy with the trajectory of their relationships and life goals. I have also been an instructor and lecturer at various universities and colleges for over 12 years and understand the unique stress students face in situations such as navigating relationships within student cohort communities, dealing with out-of-touch professors and administration, facing non-exclusive environments, and dealing with staff and student health services. I prioritize confidentiality and privacy, helping you access available services with confidence and make informed decisions about your college experience without regretting the sacrifices you make to attend college. I have over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist and dance movement therapist, specializing in treating anxiety, depression, loneliness, intimacy, communication problems, learning differences, self-esteem, health issues, life transitions, grief & loss, professional/work issues, and family and relationship stress and estrangement, ensuring comprehensive support for your unique needs. My work involves creating a safe, neutral space where we can engage in open dialogue and work systematically with empathy toward healing, growth, and solutions, guiding you through a clear, collaborative process. I enjoy working with people who are nervous about beginning therapy or have never participated in couples or family estrangement counseling.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience working in mental health for non-profit agencies, the VA, and other organizations. Through my own experiences in the military, I experienced first-hand Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, and depression. After leaving the Navy, I sought therapy to help process what I experienced. While completing my education, I worked at Veterans' Affairs, helping combat Veterans who experienced PTSD and other challenges, including drug and alcohol addiction. I bring this experience to working with you in processing trauma and other issues you may be experiencing. During our therapeutic sessions I primarily utilize CBT, DBT, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) but will also use other approaches as needed. I work from a client centered, integrative approach and believe in working collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their goals, improve coping, and reduce symptoms. Finding a path to live the life you want to lead is a goal of the work I do. I practice a resilience-based approach while working primarily with adults, veterans and their families in individual and couples counseling sessions. I also bring, Kayleigh, a therapy dog in sessions.
After working in the mental health field for nearly 15 years, specifically in crisis intervention, I set out on a new path to work with people before life becomes unbearable. Most recently, I served as a high school mental health counselor. Flexibility and openness are two of my core values. Do you know what you value? Understanding what we care about most and what brings meaning to our lives is essential to living with intention and living well. I believe therapy is about exploring these values along with memories, current circumstances, and feelings in order to help the present-self move forward. Too often we drift through our days without asking for the support we need because it can feel as though we are not worthy of that focus. Please know that you are worthy of that focus because once you do, positive change and growth are not only possible, but inevitable. My passion is to center each person I work with and learn how they experience the world around them. My background thus far has been working with youth and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation, identity issues, self-harm, and school frustration. I hold a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a masters in social work (MSW) from Portland State University. Outside of my work, I love to run, play video games, and have always been into playing/watching sports. There is no song I wouldn't try to karaoke even though I'm, like, an objectively bad singer.

I work with college and graduate students needing help with executive function and possible ADHD related concerns. Executive function skills help us navigate life and get things done. People use these skills to perform activities such as planning, organizing, prioritizing, paying attention to details, managing time, sustaining attention and focus, self regulate and build awareness of how they function and interact in the world. A person challenged by their executive functions can experience difficulty and stress in school, at work, in social settings and relationships and at home. If you would like to learn more about this and/or get support/assistance feel free to contact me! I would like to help!
