Welcome! I'm glad you're here and I look forward to supporting you. My website provides in-depth info about who I am and what I offer, but in short: I enjoy and am passionate about supporting trauma survivors, members of the LGBQ+ and TGNB+ communities, people with existential angst (ie. folks who want to feel ok in an increasingly chaotic world), those who would like to be more compassionate towards themselves and others, and helpers who would like support setting healthy boundaries to care for themselves while they care for everyone else. I welcome all your questions. You can also schedule a free consult on my website to see if we might be a good fit.
I work with individuals, couples and adult families who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, identity or life transitions, and relationship struggle. Many of the people I work with are queer, neurodivergent, non-monogamous, disabled or chronically ill. I take a liberatory, community oriented approach to therapy and will work with you to co-create a container that supports your innate capacity for healing, growth and connection. I draw from narrative therapy and humanism in my therapeutic approach. This means that I'll invite you to expand, deconstruct and reimagine the stories that you hold about yourself and the world around you while offering empathy, reflection and guidance that that celebrates your humanity and your innate capacity for growth, healing and connection. I’m genderqueer, non-monogamous, live with chronic illness, and love being outdoors and growing food. I’m sex positive, disability affirming, neurodiversity affirming, and my approach to therapy is informed by lineages of abolitionism, disability justice and queer feminism. If you think we could be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you!
I see you. I hear you. I am here to support you. Currently seeing clients via telehealth in OR and WA.
I use experiential, mind-body therapies such as EMDR, IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to assist with a holistic experience to help reduce reactivity rooted in the past and increase people's ability to be choiceful in the current moment.
***Currently serving individuals in California and Oregon*** Hello! My name is Carlota, and I am a social justice advocate; a believer in science; a fierce and overly-obsessed dog mom to two wacky pups; an immigrant; and steadfast in my conviction that we have a fundamental obligation to help one another if we have the means and capacity to do so. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and have been in practice since 2013. I completed my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in 2008, and received my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2013 from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I embrace evidence-based and research-supported therapies, while also honoring the power of the therapeutic relationship and process. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, depression, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and panic, grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, and life transitions. I am a trained teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D). I also have extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) for Bipolar Disorder, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for the treatment of PTSD in children and teens. Why might I be a good fit for you? Because I get it, and I am whole-heartedly with you on this journey. I know that coming to therapy is a profound undertaking, and that what I will ask of you in this process is not easy. Introspection, change, and confronting avoidance are hard, and so I strive to provide a safe, authentic, and collaborative environment that honors your story, experience, and identity with compassion and without judgment; I strive to be worthy of bearing witness to your story.

I find that the people I work best with are curious about their own patterns and are seeking to create better relationships with themselves and the other important people in their lives. Together lets figure out which parts of your life would benefit from trying something new and which parts would benefit from some compassionate acceptance. We can re-write the parts of your story that feel the most stuck and find new ways to grow into the person you want to be.

Are you struggling with feeling disconnected from your life and the things that are important to you? Do you feel lost and unsure of the next steps you'd like to take in your life? It is so difficult when life throws pain and suffering your way, when you feel you have little control amidst chaos and stress, or when you feel stuck in routines and habits that are no longer working for you. It takes courage to recognize when you need a change, to take the steps you need to honor yourself, and to help yourself move forward in ways that are most aligned with how you want to live your life. Therapy can help you acknowledge, honor, and create space for painful experiences while also cultivating a sense of well-being and a life you're proud of. Our work will focus on valued living - living a life that is consistent with who you are, what's important to you, what you want to stand for, and how you want to move through this world, despite hardship. I strive to create a safe space for you to explore where you are at in life, where you want to go, and how we can get you there together. I’ll walk alongside you (and cheer you on!) as you realize your own strengths, connect to your values, and begin living life in the ways that are most meaningful to you. You've come to the right place - let's talk. Note: I am exclusively providing services online at this time.

Having trained at Notre Dame, U.C. Berkeley and Stanford, I bring rigorous scientific expertise into my clinical work with adolescents, college students, millennials and high profile professionals. I often work with high-achieving individuals who find themselves looking for practical solutions to the barriers that impede their success. My clients are often driven, maybe a little overworked, and in need of balance! Having been there myself, I get it! I aim to be part coach, part cheerleader, and part educator as I support clients in living their optimal lives zestfully and fearlessly! I love what I do and can't wait to meet you! As a TEDx speaker, top media expert, adjunct professor at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology, tv personality and author of multiple clinical workbooks and tools, I employ a highly active approach to therapy. I combine CBT, mindfulness, and positive psychology interventions. My therapy style is a blend of processing emotions and teaching critical life skills. In today's ever fast-paced world, we can feel disconnected and alone. I thrive on building relationships marked by empathy, trust, hope, and always, laughter. Being a therapist has been my life's passion since I was 11! How many therapists can say that? ***Please note I only see clients virtually part-time. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds, including neurodiverse youth. Across these populations, I have seen common experiences of challenge, resilience, and growth. As a college graduate who changed majors and faced setbacks along the way, I understand the need to regroup, persist, and try again—an experience strengthened by the support of a strong social network. I invite you to connect, and I would be honored to walk alongside you, offering professional support as you navigate your own path forward.
