Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Welcome! As a lesbian therapist, I’m dedicated to supporting queer/LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, college students, as well as adults and teens from all backgrounds and identities. If you’re looking to understand and process your emotions, explore and embrace your queer identity, navigate significant life transitions, or manage anxiety, trauma, depression, academic pressures, or other aspects of mental health, I’m here to offer compassionate support. My practice focuses on the mind-body connection, providing an affirming space where you can explore your experiences, gain valuable insights, build resilience, connect deeply with your body, and work towards meaningful, lasting change. I believe in the transformative power of vulnerability and the beauty of embracing your true self. As a PhD student in mental health counseling, my research and practice center around gender and sexual diversity. I integrate somatic practices, emotion-focused therapy, and psychodynamic techniques to foster healing and self-discovery. I understand how overwhelming it can be to face these challenges alone, and I’m here to offer engaged, non-judgmental support throughout our sessions. Therapy is conducted virtually, so you can join from the comfort of your home with your beloved pets by your side. I provide superbills for insurance reimbursement, which most student insurance plans accept. I invite you to reach out for a free consultation to get started!
One of my favorite things a patient has said to me is - “Thank you for being part of my journey”. That’s what life is to me – a journey we are all on together. What I want for everyone is that they can overcome any barriers they may have so that they can become their whole selves and live life to its fullest. I work with many kinds of people from all walks of life on issues like neurodiversity, autism, anxiety, ADHD, family history, relationships, and couples’ concerns. I also have expertise working with college students, international students, young adults, and couples after working and training at the University of Rochester counseling center. I have done training specifically to provide therapy through an anti-racist lens and continue to reflect on my own whiteness. I use a mixed relational approach pulling from person centered therapy, existential therapy, DBT and more. I am committed to providing a safe, sex positive, non-judgmental space for trust and growth to happen. Are you looking for change? Are you ready to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and uncover your potential? Then give me a call or send an email and we can set up a consultation. Let’s start the conversation!
I specialize in working with survivors of childhood abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My training is extensive, including EMDRIA-approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), Internal Family Systems informed interventions (IFS), and couples therapy. I am committed to serving the LGBTQ+ community, offering support for gender-affirming surgery letter evaluations. My goal is to help you process the past so it no longer dictates your present, providing a space where you feel seen and supported. I offer specialized modalities to help process traumatic memories safely and effectively. In my work with couples and sexual health, I take a sex-positive, judgment-free approach, supporting clients through mismatched desire, intimacy barriers, and navigating non-traditional relationship structures such as polyamory or open relationships. Whether we are using somatic techniques or cognitive tools, our work is always collaborative and tailored to your unique healing. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing; ensuring a comfortable fit is a priority. In our first session, we will focus on building a foundation of safety and respect. We’ll discuss your history, current concerns, and future goals at a pace you are comfortable with. You can expect a professional yet warm environment where we identify the specific roadblocks you would like to overcome. By the end of our meeting, we will have a clear plan for moving forward towards your goals and you will leave with a sense of direction.
I use a relational, psychodynamic, and CBT-informed approach that helps clients understand patterns, build insight, and create meaningful change. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in navigating anxiety, mood concerns, life transitions, family dynamics, and relationship challenges. I earned my M.Ed. and M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University, as well as a B.S. in Cognitive Psychology from Vanderbilt University. My training has helped me develop a thoughtful, adaptable, and clinically grounded foundation.

I’m a social worker with nearly 20 years of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges with more clarity and confidence. I work especially well with young adults facing stress, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, neurodivergence, and the pressure to “figure it all out.” Therapy with me is real, practical, and judgment-free. It’s a space to slow down, feel understood, and build tools you can actually use in everyday life. You’re not broken — just human. And you don’t have to sort it out alone.
I’m here to help you know all that is possible for you and clear blocks of self-doubt, fear, shame, grief and other very human emotions and experiences in your way of a nourishing, self-loving and joyful life. My approach is collaborative, intuitive and full of heart and is rooted in my own lived experience of healing, learning and emerging. I weave together a range of therapeutic healing modalities including IFS, Hakomi and other somatic, nature-based and anti-oppressive practices. I would love to support you on your healing journey! I warmly welcome you to reach out and see if we are a match to work together.

College is a time of huge transitions, and it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or unsure where you stand. If you're struggling with overwhelming worry (anxiety), feeling stuck after a tough transition (like starting school or a breakup), grappling with past trauma, or just trying to figure out challenging relationships, you've come to the right place. Your Therapy, Your Tools My practice is built on the belief that you already have what you need within you (though it may not feel like it, right now) —we just need to clear out all the noise and find and focus on what actually works for you. We'll ease your mind: We use practical, science-backed strategies to help you unhook from negative thought spirals and calm that constant feeling of being "on edge." We'll discover and heal the root causes : We'll gently explore the "parts" of you that are feeling anxious, unclear, or worn out, and use powerful processing methods to reduce the intensity of recent or past trauma or fear (like EMDR and IFS). We'll help you adjust: Whether you're dealing with the stress of major life transitions or trying to set healthier boundaries in relationships, we'll create space for you to process the change and build a stronger sense of self. We'll get you grounded: I integrate the calming power of nature-based tools (in or out of the office) to help your nervous system slow down, allowing you to find a peaceful space even when deadlines are looming. We’ll work together, at your own pace, to move you from feeling overwhelmed to thriving on campus and beyond. Ready to take a breath and start building a college experience that feels authentic and manageable? Let's connect.
What stories shape your sense of self and the world? Have you found yourself stuck or disempowered by the stories you tell about yourself or others? With my unique background in mental health counseling and doctorate in English Literature, I approach therapy as a collaborative, meaning-making process informed by story, culture, and connection. I aim to make your life more robust by empowering you to widen narrative possibilities. Given my continued connection to educational spaces, I am especially interested in the stories we tell ourselves about education, learning, and development (and the stresses that come with expectations around perfectionism). My approach is shaped by a strong awareness of “systems,” including educational/academic systems, recognizing that personal suffering is inseparable from how we are shaped by cultural and historical contexts. Through attuned listening to your story across the systems you inhabit, I work to position you as the author of your own life. I undertake a collaborative, rather than authoritative role in my therapeutic work. I am interested in an array of identities and “concerns” such as grief, depression, anxiety, “disordered” eating, existential dilemmas, LGBTQ-facing issues, illness, transitions, attachment, academic experiences, etc. Likewise, I employ a variety of approaches in my work—ACT, DBT, psychodynamic, narrative therapy, creative arts therapies, Gestalt, psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems. At the core, I utilize a reparative lens: rather than solely foregrounding wounds, I champion joy, resilience, and the potential for healing. I invite you to embark on this path forward with me as we build a therapeutic space for honoring the complexity of your story and work to cultivate wholeness.
Our primary focus is medication management for ADHD, anxiety and depression. Initial appointment can be booked online from our website or my email.
