Therapists for college students near New York, NY
In a world full of stressors and chaos we tend to forget to take care of our mental health which is a crucial part of our overall well-being. Taking some time to hit pause and talk about the overwhelming feelings life throws at you can help alleviate some anxiety and worries that might be causing overwhelming feelings. It's important to remember to be nice to yourself and one way to start is by seeking support. Hi! My name is Deafny Gallo and I'm a second-year Master’s student in the Mental Health Counseling Program at the City College of New York. My goal is to help my clients work through any issues and stresses they may be dealing with through the use of CBT and a Psychodynamic approach during our sessions together. I have experience working with children, adolescents, young and elderly adults. I aim to approach my client’s issues in a safe and non-judgmental environment where we can establish a trusting relationship to achieve my client’s goals. I look forward to working together in your journey to become a better you! Deafny Gallo is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. For oppressed people to intentionally cultivate pleasure is an act of resistance - Ingrid LaFleur. I specialize in providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, poly & kink-friendly, and queer-affirming therapy. My journey as a queer, non-monogamous South Asian neurodivergent woman, along with the experiences of those close to me, deeply shape my approach. I draw on my first-hand knowledge of navigating kink/sex-positive environments. It's important to me to approach therapy with a sense of curiosity and openness so that I can better understand and support my clients. I view each individual within the context of their environment, recognizing the complex intersections of their various identities. I rely on evidenced-based methods that consider the impact of trauma and are attuned to diverse cultural perspectives. In my sessions, I strive to create a safe space for clients to rehearse for life outside of therapy. Building an authentic relationship with my clients is my highest priority. Jiddu Krishnamurti said that it is no measure of health to be adjusted to a society that is profoundly sick and I do not see therapy as a way to numb the pain that is caused by systemic oppression but rather a way to empower clients to have compassion for themselves.

I want to help you improve your life, whatever that might look like for you. My name is Eleanor, and I am a master’s student in the Mental Health Counseling program at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University. I also have a BA in Classical Studies and a minor in Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. In session, we will explore your present experiences, reflect on your past, and keep an eye on building the future you desire. Together, we can examine how trauma and childhood experiences influence your behaviors today. If applicable, we will also explore your relationships and attachment style. Finally, we will map out the many parts that make up the whole you. My goal? To help you gain insight into yourself, truly feel and regulate your emotions, and overall enhance the quality of your life. The approach to your therapy will be individualized and will depend on your specific goals – you decide what you want to put in your therapeutic toolbox. My therapeutic style is primarily rooted in the psychodynamic and IFS (internal family systems) modalities, though I also utilize aspects of the CBT, ACT, ERP, DBT, and Gestalt theories. We will work together to explore which approach feels best for you! My overarching career goal is to provide profound solace for college-age students and young adults. My focuses within therapeutic work are: anxiety, depression, OCD, relationships and dating, families, attachment, sexual exploration, substance use, and personality disorders. Born and raised in Manhattan, I help patients overcome stress to achieve satisfaction and peace in their everyday lives. As a board-certified therapist with two Master's Degrees (Psychology & Clinical Social Work) and full state licensure, I have the education and experience necessary to treat folks suffering from anxiety, depression, social isolation, interpersonal conflict, addiction, relationship issues, avoidance issues, grief, and more. I've honed my assessment and intervention skills through years of working in the medical field, having studied under some of the most prominent psychologists and psychiatrists in New York City. My style is relational and empathic, but at times challenging. It is important to me that my patients achieve the best therapeutic results. I employ different modalities of treatment rooted in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral foundations—I help you understand what goals will most satisfy you, why those goals will satisfy you, and how to achieve them. I have centered my practice around a balance between stoicism and idealism. We only have so much control over what happens in life. I can help you build resilience and anti-fragility in reaction to difficult stimuli. If my services feel like the right fit for you, then please call, text, or email for a free consultation.
