Hi, I’m Destinee! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who supports young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, identity, and self-worth challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you’re becoming, I offer a warm, collaborative space to help you feel more grounded, confident, and clear. You're not alone—and therapy can help you find your way forward.
I work with college students who struggle with anxiety, depression, transition and acclimation to school, body image concerns, eating problems/disorders, trauma, social issues and general stress. College can be hard and I'm here to help you manage.
As a licensed mental health counselor dedicated to transforming patients’ lives, I work primarily with emerging adults (20- and 30-somethings) who are navigating life transitions, relational challenges, and low self-esteem, as well as symptoms of anxiety, depression, and OCD. This life stage comes with many unique challenges and transitions, so my mission is to assist you in identifying your patterns and strengths, while introducing strategies to help you move closer to your goals. In taking this relational approach, I also aid in setting boundaries and building secure attachment to allow for more meaningful relationships. In every session, I balance open-ended exploration of concerns with the introduction of tangible tools and skills to manage symptoms and reduce distress. Therapy is a collaboration, and I strive to meaningfully support you in ways that are tailored to your individual needs. I understand that starting therapy can be intimidating, which is why I offer a warm and compassionate space so you can bring your full self into sessions. My holistic, person-centered approach to care draws from various therapeutic modalities while remaining compassionate and recognizing the structural barriers to mental health. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), couples and group therapy, and attachment-oriented methods. A deep curiosity and care for people started me along the path to therapy. Working in a university career counseling center and volunteering with various social justice organizations fueled my desire to walk alongside people as they work toward their goals, while incorporating my passion for equity and justice. Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum, so I bring the awareness that numerous internal and external factors contribute. Outside the office, I love visiting museums and galleries, reading, cross-stitching, and listening to comedy podcasts. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and foraging – there are a shocking amount of edible plants, even in NYC!
The Rust Wellness approach to therapy is tailoring each session to fit the needs of the client and consistently reevaluating to meet their evolving issues and concerns. We know how difficult it is to open up about mental health topics, especially with a stranger, so we strive to establish a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages our clients to share their vulnerabilities. Trust is incredibly important in a therapist-client relationship, so we aim to create an environment that will facilitate our clients’ comfort.
Reaching out for help can be hard. We will do our best to provide a safe, supportive environment, when you can feel free to share as much as you need to. We consider therapy to be a collaboration between clinician and patient. Our job is to work with you to help you better understand your inner thoughts and feelings so that you can become the best version of you. We tend to follow patterns of behavior based on our earliest identities. Some of us go through life thinking we are not smart enough, not good looking enough, not capable enough, or not as good as others. It's important to understand that these beliefs are not in fact reality, but an internalized sense of self that we have learned from our earliest experiences. Because of these beliefs, we can often find ourselves repeating unhealthy patterns in relationships, how we deal with stress, social isolation, engaging in unhealthy or risky behaviors, and all manner of acting out in self-destructive ways. Therapy can help re-define who you are, so that instead following these unhealthy patterns, you can make choices that are informed by what you really want, as opposed to what you think you deserve. Therapy is not a quick fix. It takes time and commitment, and it is hard. We are ready to make that commitment with you, and be with you on your journey of self-discovery, so that you can become the author of your own life, rather than letting it be written for you. Please contact us for a free consultation.
I am an insight-oriented, person-centered, and sex-positive therapist who leads with curiosity. I see clients of all identities, and I specialize in the care and unique needs of queer, kinky, and nonmonogamous people, as well as those with a background in sex work. I am skilled in helping clients navigate issues related to gender identity, sexuality, alternative relationship structures, life transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, and attachment ruptures. My work in general psychotherapy and sex therapy is trauma-informed and driven by principles of consent. I will meet you where you are on your journey in a non-judgmental and compassionate way. My practice is guided by values of anti-oppression, and I actively consider the impact of positionality and power dynamics throughout my life. I am a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, with a specialized certificate in Gender and Sexuality. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12 years working in theatre; I integrate my experience working in artist care into my practice as a holistic-minded clinician. I see adult clients on an individual basis and in relationship structures of two or more. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own experiences, and that my role as a therapist is to use my clinical presence to help us both understand you better. Our work together focuses on discovering patterns and connections, while utilizing our mutual insight. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Therapy is a powerful tool in the process of inviting our most authentic selves to emerge. My approach is grounded in an integrative blend of Eastern and Western modalities and philosophies with the goal of fostering a greater connection between the mind, body, and spirit. In sessions, we will bring awareness to the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to better understand the blockages that are preventing you from living a fully expressed life. I provide a compassionate and safe container to work towards healing past wounds while addressing present problems. I received my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and have been trained in Holistic Psychotherapy by Rebecca Greene, LMHC, CYT. My treatment modalities include Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Relationship Counseling, and Interpersonal Psychology. I have experience working with a wide range of clients across various stages of life who are working through issues related to relationships, codependency, grief, past and present trauma, anxiety, stress, and the feeling of overwhelm, spirituality, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. I am affirming of diverse orientations, identities, relationships, and family systems including, but not limited to Polyamory and Consensual Non Monogamy, LGBTQAI2+, Genderqueer, Kink/BDSM, Monogamous, Straight, and committed Allies and family members. I welcome your email or call to set up a no-fee consultation session so we can explore the possibility of working together!
I work with children, adolescents, and adults who feel stuck between what anxiety is telling them to do and the life they actually want to live. It’s common to feel overwhelmed by anxiety or OCD, getting caught in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, and feeling stuck, you’re not alone. Using evidence-based treatments like ERP, PE, HRT, and Behavioral Activation, I help clients learn to respond differently to intrusive thoughts, reduce avoidance, and move toward what matters most. Together, we focus on building a life guided by values rather than fear. ERP provides structure and direction. My goal is to help you feel more confident handling whatever shows up and partner with families to create consistency and support outside of sessions. Taking the first step can be hard, but you don’t have to do it by yourself, I'd be happy to connect and see how I can support you.
Are you emotionally drained from holding everything together? You may struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down, or feeling like you're “too much.” I help young adults understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck and disconnected. Together, we’ll make sense of your inner life, relationships, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself over time. My style, is compassionate, collaborative, and engaged. It's important to me that we create a relationship where all parts of you feel welcome and safe enough to make the changes you want. I’ve trained in relational psychodynamic therapy with children and adults, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. I believe our early relationships shape us and that healing happens through new relational experiences. In our work, we'll make space to be curious about feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and dynamics that often happen out of awareness. You're welcome to contact me here to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. I’ll reply within 24 hours. You can also book time directly through the link on my own website. We'll talk about your goals, questions, and any concerns you might have. If we decide we're not a good fit, I’ll gladly offer a referral.
Sometimes, you just feel off. Maybe you're coming home from class every day drained, going through a breakup and unsure of what you want next, or dreading whatever tomorrow might bring. Whatever it is, you just don’t feel like yourself – or maybe, you're still trying to figure out who that even is. If that feels like you, know that you're not alone. I work with students who are ready to connect with themselves and find alignment, purpose, and fulfillment. My goal is to help you build a life that actually feels like yours, not anyone else's. In our work together, we’ll look at what’s going on beneath the surface, develop tools to express what you need, and create space for healing and growth. I aim to make our sessions feel safe, supportive, and real. For me, that means showing up with honesty, curiosity, and a little humor, too. School can create a lot of pressure to have it all figured out. In our work, none of that matters. You get to show up as you are, explore what matters to you, and go at your own pace. I am honored to walk alongside you as we work to build self-trust, deepen self-compassion, and make meaningful changes. If you're ready to start that work together, I’d love to hear from you!

In our work together, I help clients understand the impact of past experiences on the present, with a focus on the here-and-now. I also incorporate breathing and mindfulness practices to help manage everyday stress.
