Therapists for college students near Harvard University
As a therapist, I aim to help my clients achieve and maintain the best version of themselves. My hope is that through the power of the therapeutic relationship, clients are able to be vulnerable, explore their authentic selves, and learn the tools necessary to help them cope with the struggles in their daily lives and relationships. Through the reflection on past experiences and the exploration of present thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, I work to help my clients gain insight and facilitate change in their lives. I offer guidance and expertise addressing an array of issues that impact individuals. These areas include trauma, eating disorders, personality disorders, military, life transitions, families/couples, anxiety, depression, and many others. My primary goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and empathic environment for you to explore, process, heal, and grow. I am here to help you feel empowered and supported throughout the therapeutic process and give you the space you need to be vulnerable, explore, and challenge yourself. With hard work, openness, and commitment, I believe clients can achieve the healthy lives and relationships they deserve. Contact me to set up a free initial appointment today!

My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?
Alex (he/him) is a Mental Health Counselor who believes that everyone’s voice deserves to be heard and that we have the ability to thrive when proper attention is given to our mind, body, and soul. Oftentimes, our voices are buried underneath preconceived notions bestowed upon us from others and even ourselves. Alex has a passion for working with individuals to discover their voice, explore and evaluate their values, examine their personal and professional relationships, and ultimately help people find peace within the context of their lives. Alex utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach using skills obtained from a plethora of working environments. While primarily utilizing a strength based, person-centered approach, Alex is also proficient in the teachings of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Systems therapy, among other modalities. Your present need not be your future! Life isn’t always easy. Today you may be anxious, depressed, stuck, overwhelmed, flunking out, and/or obsessed. Tomorrow can be different. The path to a better future may involve courageously exploring emotions or it may involve learning and practicing new habits or strategies. Sometimes little changes cause dramatic results. My specialty is working with you to determine what will work best for you. To this task I bring great depth and breadth of experience. I was actually a college dropout before I became a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist after first becoming an Educational & Career Counselor & then applying my knowledge & skills on myself. I’ve been in private practice as a therapist for over 30 years, have consulted to hospitals for decades as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, taught the graduate course Neuropsychology to psychology doctoral students for 18 years, created the graduate course Nutrition, Brain and Behavior, provided lectures on neuropsychology for medical students and residents through Harvard Medical School’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and created many continuing education courses for psychologists and lectured college counselors nationwide on improving college performance. I’ve done thousands of assessments encompassing ADHD, learning disability, autism, memory disorders, executive dysfunction, anxiety disorders and depression, yet, despite this I do not think in terms of these labels. Most sessions begin with screening not to assign a diagnosis but determination of the type of psychotherapy or lifestyle changes with which you are likely to feel most comfortable. Take the first step towards a better tomorrow.
Is anxiety or depression getting in the way of the life that you want to lead? Do you want to move towards independence but feel confused or overwhelmed? Are you questioning your sexuality or gender identity? I am here to help. I offer a calming, nonjudgmental presence providing support and helping you to learn new ways of overcoming the difficulties that you face. My approach is client-centered and I am continually impressed with the strength and resilience of the clients that I work with. I work with adults (18 and up) but particularly enjoy working with young adults transitioning to independence and LGBTQIA people. It can be frightening to reach out for assistance, especially if you have not been in therapy before. I have been told by past clients that my calm demeanor and gentle approach have helped them to overcome their reservations and fully engage in the healing process.
