Welcome to 3d Psychotherapy! As a practice we especially work with clients who are insecure overachievers, those with anxiety, grief, depression, and anyone healing from narcissistic abuse. I also specialize in academic anxiety and career counseling, coping with chronic illness, processing trauma, and dealing with life transitions. As a former university professor for 26 years before becoming a counselor, I understand the pressures and struggles college students face. We offer in-person sessions as well as teletherapy. Our practice and interventions are inclusive and supportive for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. Our sessions focus on fostering deep connections, ensuring you feel seen, heard, validated and valued. Counseling is for healing, growth, and positive change for your present and future.
I view the soul as your mind, will, and emotions—the essence of who you are. Trauma can leave wounds that shape your view of yourself and the world, leaving fractures in your soul. Healing to me is not about ‘fixing,’ but about meeting yourself with compassion, understanding the protective patterns that once kept you safe, and reconnecting with the authentic self beneath them. I believe that every person carries an innate capacity for healing, even when pain and shame feel overwhelming. I trust that our wounds, when met with love and grace, can become openings to deeper wisdom, resilience, and growth. I also believe that healing is not a linear path—it unfolds gently, at your own pace, when safety and compassion are present. My work is rooted in the belief that wholeness is possible. "Grace softens the pain, love holds the wound, and compassion leads the healing.” The approaches I use are grounded in years of experience walking alongside survivors of trauma. Together, we’ll work with tools that go beyond surface-level coping and actually reach the root of what’s happening in your body and brain. Through Brainspotting, we can access and release the deep, unprocessed experiences that often drive anxiety and overwhelm. With trauma-informed DBT skills, you’ll learn practical ways to manage emotions, reduce shame, and build resilience. Using somatic approaches, we’ll gently reconnect with your body’s wisdom so that you feel more grounded and safe in your own skin. All of this work is held within a compassion-centered framework—because healing isn’t about fixing what’s ‘broken,’ it’s about meeting yourself with kindness and learning to trust your own inner strength. My goal is for you to leave therapy with tools you can carry with you anywhere—simple, effective practices that help calm your body, quiet your mind, and create space for peace.

If you are new to therapy or if you've met with a therapist before, I commend you for recognizing your need for supporting yourself right now. If you are experiencing problems related to drugs and alcohol, anxiety, depression, anger, or stress management, I feel confident that I can help you to deal with these issues effectively. I take a mindfulness-based approach in working with clients, which incorporates a main focus of learning to accept and be with whatever is happening in the present moment. This can help create clarity and present a reasonable solution to challenges. If you are interested in working with me, please reach out to me at anytime.
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” -Lisa Olivera. Do you find yourself constantly worrying, stressed, or like you are trapped, and you cannot seem to escape? Do you sometimes feel like no one understands you? You do not have to struggle in silence. I am pleased that you have taken the first step in addressing your concerns. In my practice, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to be able to share whatever is on your mind and where we can explore your concerns together. Let’s put YOU at the top of your to-do list! My approach to therapy is from a Person-Centered lens and Psychodynamic approach to help you identify some of the causes for your feelings. My therapeutic approaches are Relational Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you find the skills to improve your daily life. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, perfectionism, and ADHD. In our work together, we will use our time to explore the challenges you may be experiencing and try to find solutions (coping skills) while improving on personal strengths. I hope that I can help you create a life that you find meaningful.

I am a dedicated therapist with a deep belief in the transformative power of relationships. My practice is centered around helping individuals and couples navigate their unique journeys towards healing and growth. With a warm and empathetic approach, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their inner worlds and cultivate meaningful connections with themselves and others. My therapeutic toolkit is enriched by specialized training in IFS, EMDR, and EFT. Together, these modalities enable me to offer a comprehensive and tailored approach to each client's unique needs. IFS allows me to guide clients in understanding and harmonizing their internal parts, while EMDR is instrumental in addressing and resolving trauma. EFT provides a framework for enhancing emotional bonding and resolving conflicts within relationships. Ultimately, my goal is to empower clients to build resilience, foster healthy relationships, and achieve lasting change. Whether working with individuals seeking personal growth or couples aiming to strengthen their bond, I am committed to supporting you on your path to healing and fulfillment.
There’s no pressure to be perfect or “fix” yourself in this therapy room, and I will encourage exploration of what living imperfectly may feel like. Life can feel exhausting, and I am here to make space for that. I aim to support you in finding a greater sense of authenticity, community and joy in their lives. My clinical training focused on working with clients through an intersectional lens, something that shaped my passion for feminist therapy, where oppression, power and privilege are all named in the therapy room. I recognize the privileges I hold as a white, cisgender, middle-class woman, in working with all clients. I acknowledge cultural differences in therapy, and make space for each client’s experience with any form of intersecting identities. I am well aware of the impacts of patriarchy, white supremacy, heteronormativity, cisnormativity, colonialism, and fatphobia on our mental health, and aim to integrate a decolonized lens into all work I do. I bring anti-racist, anti-oppressive and restorative justice approaches to my work and am willing to be called in by you for any missteps that may happen. The therapeutic relationship is a space where I encourage you to model your ideal relationships and communication, even when it may feel uncomfortable.
Hi, I’m Maureen (she/her), and I’m an experienced therapist who helps young adults navigate trauma, family relationships, and the stress of major life transitions. Many of my clients are managing ADHD, shifting family roles, or recovering from emotionally unsafe or narcissistic parents. I often see folks who appear successful on the outside but are struggling inside. I advocate for people who are starting something new and scary or leaving behind something painful. I also worked in a college counseling center for 9 years, so I've got lots of experience with what students are coming in with. Whatever it is you are looking to unload, I offer a warm and validating space to explore what you’ve been carrying.

I specialize in working with college and graduate students, young professionals, and couples, empowering them to develop skills to manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and explore their self-identity. I also work with first generation and children of immigrants and am committed to maintaining a culturally-informed practice that honors the different ways that people experience and think of their identity. Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with things like anxiety, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Maybe you're struggling with the pressure of classes, or with adjusting to your new environment and building relationships. Or you might feel like you’re always anxious about getting things right or not knowing what's going to happen, and worry is becoming exhausting. Perhaps you're at a point where you want to learn more about the impact of your cultural background on your identity and explore the experiences you've had. Going to therapy can be a courageous step towards personal growth and self-reflection to develop the tools needed to manage symptoms and align ourselves more with our goals. Whether you're navigating major life transitions, managing work-related stress, or facing challenges in your relationships, my practice provides a supportive space to help you build resilience. By incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with compassion and mindfulness focused models, I provide a non-judgemental and empathetic environment in my work with clients. For couples therapy, I utilize the Gottman method to help couples improve their relationships. I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC015213). I earned my M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Psychology, English, & Classical Studies from Emory University. I provide both in-person and virtual sessions to make therapy accessible and convenient for clients in the Decatur area and beyond. My goal in the therapy process is to help create a safe and effective space for you. Change can be difficult and sometimes scary. It's important to have the right person "in your corner" to help you tap in to your inner wisdom and navigate the challenges that you're facing. I have experience working with many presenting concerns including substance abuse, disordered eating, body image concerns, women's issues and navigating life transitions. I also have personal experience with type 1 diabetes, and I work with clients navigating the disease and co-occurring mental health concerns. My goal as a therapist is to help you identify and utilize your strengths while also challenging you to try new approaches that can lead to different experiences. I believe in giving you a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore what's really going on in your life. That starts with helping you develop insight around your struggles and patterns. We then work together to identify and practice ways to move forward and make real and meaningful changes towards the life you want to lead. I am able to be reached via email or phone for questions and appointment scheduling. I also offer free 15 minute phone consultations to help you determine if counseling with me is a good fit. The best way to schedule a phone consultation is via email. My practice offers both in person and virtual tele-health sessions to help accommodate busy schedules.
I enjoy working with College Students and Student Athletes. I worked on a Division I campus for 7 years as a support staff in the Athletic Department and as an Academic Counselor for Student Athletes. I am very familiar with college campus rigors and life style.
College can look exciting on the outside — but behind the scenes, many students feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure they’re keeping up. You may be juggling classes, pressure to succeed, shifting friendships, family expectations, and big decisions about your future — all while trying to hold it together on the outside. If you feel anxious, overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unsure of yourself, you’re not the only one. I work with students who care about doing well but feel burned out from trying to keep up. Many struggle with anxiety, procrastination, trouble focusing, low confidence, perfectionism, or feeling like they don’t quite fit in. Others feel stuck after a setback, unsure about their direction, or overwhelmed by the independence and responsibility that come with college life. Together, we will focus on understanding what’s driving the stress and building practical tools to help you feel more grounded and in control. We might work on managing anxiety, improving focus and organization, navigating relationships, strengthening confidence, and creating a healthier balance between achievement and well-being. I offer a supportive, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can be real about what you’re going through and feel understood. My goal is to help you make college feel more manageable and to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of who you are.
