Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
As a Stanford trained psychologist, I combine insight-oriented with skill-based therapy approaches to help young adults and adults with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms find their way back to a fulfilling life. Do you feel sad and down for no apparent reason? Do you feel all alone and as though nobody understands you or sees your pain? Do you tend to overthink things? Do uncertainties of life scare you or do you feel like you need to control your environment to feel safe. You are not alone. Through my ability to read between the lines, I can see you and help you better understand yourself. We will work through subconscious challenges that interfere with your joy in life, growth, and path to healing. I also specialize in working with individuals and their family who struggle with the diagnosis of cancer or other medical conditions. I will help you find ways to cope with fear, loss and uncertainty related to your condition and make sense of your situation productively. Let's work together to help you thrive with your disease. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT: In addition to therapy, I provide a variety of psychological assessment services, including mental health evaluations for adults in legal proceedings (civil and criminal); psychodiagnostic evaluations to inform treatment and clarify diagnostics; and neurocognitive assessments. Hello! I've spent my entire career (30+ years) working with undergraduate and graduate university students, both in the United States and abroad. I've worked in several University Counseling Centers and also serve as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Department of Applied Psychology at NYU. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals, including those from diverse backgrounds, who are grappling with many different issues: transition to college, relationship struggles, family issues, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, identity, sexual orientation, grief/loss, and existential challenges. I've worked with student-athletes, international students, people of color, LGBTQIA individuals, study-abroad students, members of Greek Life, and graduate/doctoral students. I am a down-to-earth, insightful, non-judgmental, REAL, sometimes funny, and consistently compassionate therapist. I love working with college students! I've been told by many clients that I'm easy to talk to. I will listen, support you, provide honest feedback, and help you to navigate your challenges effectively so you can be your best self as you pursue your educational and life goals. When your mind won’t slow down, your heart feels heavy, or your story feels complicated, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I support clients working through anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship patterns. My style is gentle, direct, and a little playful; think compassion with a dash of humor. Together we’ll untangle what’s hurting, strengthen what’s working, and help you feel more like you. Therapy works best when you can show up as yourself. I integrate different tools and interventions to match your needs, whether you want deeper insight, practical coping skills, or both. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe. Healing can be hard, but it’s still worth it. If you’re curious about working together, contact me by phone or email, or text (970) 829-8780. I see clients in Boulder, Broomfield, and Lakewood.
My journey into the world of mental health services has come through my own struggles with adoption trauma, addiction, and long-term depression. Such conditions have made me an avid researcher of the human mind and heart, and a passionate experimenter of the means by which we transform both. This research and experimentation has (thankfully) fine-tuned my relationship skills and made me fluent in many languages of internal exploration. The most impactful of all of these have been the practices of meditation and somatic psychotherapy. I have spent nearly twenty years exploring them in depth and I would love to share them with you.

I tailor evidence-based practices to each of my clients' specific needs. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked with adults in community mental health, youth in correctional facilities, and older adults in long-term care. My work is motivated by my passion for human connection. At Thrive, I offer therapy for both couples and individuals, supporting clients’ inquiry into how they experience their own BELONGING and how they can access more joy and meaning in their relationship with themselves, the ones they love, and the world around them. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology. My approach to therapy incorporates my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as her decade of experience in teaching yoga and working outside. I also enjoy incorporating the Enneagram into my work with clients, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. Though I am not a native speaker, Sydney is bilingual in both English and Spanish and welcomes working with native Spanish speakers who might be yearning for a space to speak both in their therapeutic work. I also have both personal and professional experience working with the impacts of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and feels passionate about supporting clients who are navigating those challenges.

I believe in a body centered, mindful approach that combines evidenced based nutrition practices, resulting in an integrative and holistic approach to better nutrition, improved energy, increased mental clarity and optimal health. I enjoy helping clients develop strategies to meet their nutrition and health goals by finding foods that fit for each individual person. I do this, most importantly, by listening to their stories and experiences, honoring their unique bodies and coming up with nutrition protocols that address issues related to different disease states, food choices, supplementation and lifestyle interventions. I work often with the following conditions: eating disorders, gut health, chronic conditions, weight issues, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities/allergies, cardiovascular conditions, mental health and nutrition, immune related conditions and overall nutrition challanges.
Although college can be a time of excitement and exploration, it can also feel extreme and bring up feelings that can be challenging to sort out on our own. Having the right support can make all the difference. At In Bloom Psychotherapy we are here to support you on this journey exactly as you are, helping you find the tools and resources to provide some relief and a better understanding of yourself. Among other issues, we specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, relational issues, depression, college athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts. We incorporate body awareness and mindfulness into sessions because talk therapy alone may not be enough to shift old patterns and create new neural pathways in the brain. Some of our clinicians are trained in EMDR therapy and utilize approaches such as parts work, IFS, DBT, CBT, mindfulness and attachment theory. We know finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and daunting. If something in this bio resonates with you, please reach out for a free twenty-minute phone consultation.

I am an ANCC board certified nurse practitioner specializing in the identification, treatment, and management of psychological disorders. I received both my masters and doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am certified across the lifespan but specialize in treating adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. My work history includes not only medication management in both inpatient and outpatient settings, but also psychotherapy with an emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have written several book chapters and journal articles that have been published in literature directed towards primary care providers. Collaborating and coordinating patient care amongst all care providers is something that I have always integrated into my practice as it is very important in guiding successful and holistic outcomes. It is my goal to provide patient centered care in a way in which each patient feels heard, validated, and an integral part of their own treatment.
I spent much of my adult life working in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic before going to the Physician Assistant program at Loma Linda University in Southern California. After graduating from there in 2018, I spent the past five years working in addiction medicine in a residential treatment program in Boulder, Colorado. Working in addiction medicine, I commonly assisted adult patients, of all ages, dealing with anxiety, depression, cravings, withdrawal symptoms and sleep challenges. Patients would often come to me wanting to reduce their amount of medications to just what was helpful and necessary and I would take a lot of pride in helping them achieve that goal. Genetic testing provides a helpful tool to initially choose, change or adjust a dose of a particular medication. I believe that it is important to meet an individual where they are in the healing process and to address the whole person rather than just the presenting problem or symptom. To address the “whole person” requires getting a detailed history and a partnership between patient and provider. Establishing such a partnership gives me great joy.
