Life can be brutal, can’t it?! Can you remember that time in life when you were happy, like top of the world scream it from the rooftops happy? In that moment, everything was right in your world and then well, life happened. Now you look back and have so many questions…What happened? Let me tell you, you are not alone! We’ve all been there in some season of life. But who says this can’t make us better! Every person comes to therapy with their own individual needs. Therefore, we adapt our interventions based on a comprehensive assessment of who you are and what you need. We are all trained in a number of different interventions and like to use a combination of our training and expertise to utilize an eclectic approach to best meet the needs of each individual person. We know that every individual is uniquely different and therefore each person should have a unique therapy journey based on their own needs.
As a Stanford trained psychologist, I combine insight-oriented with skill-based therapy approaches to help young adults and adults with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms find their way back to a fulfilling life. Do you feel sad and down for no apparent reason? Do you feel all alone and as though nobody understands you or sees your pain? Do you tend to overthink things? Do uncertainties of life scare you or do you feel like you need to control your environment to feel safe. You are not alone. Through my ability to read between the lines, I can see you and help you better understand yourself. We will work through subconscious challenges that interfere with your joy in life, growth, and path to healing. I also specialize in working with individuals and their family who struggle with the diagnosis of cancer or other medical conditions. I will help you find ways to cope with fear, loss and uncertainty related to your condition and make sense of your situation productively. Let's work together to help you thrive with your disease. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT: In addition to therapy, I provide a variety of psychological assessment services, including mental health evaluations for adults in legal proceedings (civil and criminal); psychodiagnostic evaluations to inform treatment and clarify diagnostics; and neurocognitive assessments. Figuring out what we're thinking and feeling is an important task that can help us figure out how to go after what we really value. I help college students, especially men, identify their thoughts and feelings so they can pursue what they value and communicate more effectively with the important people in their life. I have almost 10 years of experience working with people to figure out what's important and pursue it in a way that builds confidence and improves well-being.
My role in our work together is to help you look deeper into your most pressing problems, and to assist you in working towards solutions that fit your life. I have seventeen years of experience with psychotherapy and brief therapeutic interventions, in public high schools and at the University of Colorado counseling center, as well as in private practice. I am trained in numerous modalities of treatment (see my website for more info.) I look forward to the opportunity to support you and strategize with you as you move towards a more authentic and grounded way of being in the world. My style is collaborative, warm, and empowering. My practice begins with a kind, compassionate and safe introduction to the therapy process. We will explore what you want in your life and how to get there. Together we will follow your questions, concerns and goals, so you can discover new options. These are some of the questions we can explore. How can I make decisions that lead to a clear purpose? Why do I feel depressed? What is all this anxiety about? What can I do to feel better now? Drawing on eastern and western psychology, we will work together to develop the tools and inner resources to achieve your life goals including learning self compassion, and developing awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors - through traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, creating art, and journaling. Please see my psychology today profile for more information and a complete list of insurance I accept.
I was raised in a commune-style farm setting in rural Pennsylvania, and earned my BA from Middlebury College and then my MA in counseling psychology from Lesley College. I am currently pursuing her certificate in Modern Psychoanalysis at the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ. I am a mother of three and a longtime practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure). These practices inform my interest in the well-being of the whole person. I provide a safe and comfortable space where you can explore the parts of your life that you value and also the parts you may want to change. My approach is to cultivate a sense of curiosity and kindness while supporting you in saying whatever is on your mind. As we put our thoughts and feelings into words, we tend to grow more comfortable in ourselves, even in the midst of discomfort. We may find ourselves in more positive relationships at home, at school, and at work. We may find more clarity about how we want to live our lives. Whether in person or online, I see the therapeutic process as a catalyst for reflection, exploration, self-understanding, and personal growth. Together, we will work to understand the richness of who you are and resolve whatever is getting in the way of achieving your personal and professional goals.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ teens and adults navigating gender, sexuality, relationships, identity, and the emotional weight that can come with living authentically. My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I pay close attention to what's unfolding between us in the moment, while also helping you build practical tools for regulation, self-trust, and resilience. Our work might include somatic (body-based) practices, mindfulness, inner child and parts work, or deeper exploration of attachment, identity, and the systems we move through. I honor the realities of our sociopolitical climate and the ways it shapes queer and trans lives, and I aim to hold space that’s affirming, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your truth. Whether you're coming out, healing from trauma, or just trying to make sense of who you are and what you need, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. You don’t have to do it alone. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults for the past 20 years. My therapeutic style can be described as interactive, empathetic, nonjudgmental and gently challenging. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is essential to positive, healthy change. It is often the relationship with a supportive and skilled therapist that allows people to talk about and explore issues/struggles that feel too difficult to explore on their own. Because therapy is such a unique and personal journey, therapy is centered on you and your unique needs as we work together to build on your strengths, focus on solutions and develop new skills and insights, to help you achieve the personal growth you are seeking.

Feeling overwhelmed, behind, anxious, unsure, or like you’re constantly juggling too much? College can bring intense pressure to perform, stay productive, and have a plan—often while managing relationships, family expectations, finances, and questions about who you’re becoming. Even when things are going well academically or socially, many students carry a quiet sense of stress, self-doubt, or disconnection that’s hard to put into words. College is often referred to as the “best years of your life,” yet it’s also a time of major transition and identity formation. You may be making important decisions about your future while still figuring out what you value, what you want, and how to trust yourself. It’s common to feel stuck, anxious, or alone during this period—especially when it seems like everyone else is more confident or has things figured out. How We’ll Work Together I pay close attention to the tension many young adults feel between the part of them seeking stability and the part longing for meaning. It’s common to feel torn between wanting security—a solid job, steady relationships, a clear plan—and wanting a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and alive. In our work, we’ll explore this inner conflict with curiosity rather than judgment and find a way forward that integrates both of these core desires. Many young adults also carry a quiet sense of “I should be further along by now,” shaped by family expectations, social comparison, and cultural pressure. Together, we’ll slow down these narratives and build a relationship to yourself that’s based on honesty, compassion, and your actual needs—not someone else’s timeline. We’ll explore patterns in your relationships, clarify your values, likes, and dislikes, and build skills that help you move through the world with more confidence and ease. Therapy becomes a place to practice new ways of relating: setting boundaries, being more authentic, understanding your emotional patterns, and building healthier relationships. We’ll look at where your values, instincts, and longings are trying to guide you, and how to make choices that align with who you’re becoming.

I work best with clients who may appear to have it together on the outside while internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. Many are navigating trauma, OCD, mood changes, identity exploration, or relationship stress. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ+ clients and those looking for an authentic, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to better understand themselves and heal.
