Therapists for college students near San Diego State University
All of my work involves Somatic Mindfulness. With Somatic work, we often forget that the body is the faculty whereby all of our consciousness is born. Without our senses we would not be able to experience our lives. When we live in our heads we lose the combined force of an aligned mind-body system. Body wisdom, awareness, critical thinking, and investigation allow us to live in the present, and feel comfortable, embodied, and alive. The existential facet of my work focuses on choice. Oftentimes in life, we forget that we have so many choices and possibilities available to us, even choices that seem challenging but that may help us flex new muscles for psychological growth. Realizing that you have both choice and agency brings real empowerment to your life. I work as a psychodynamic psychotherapist utilizing somatic, existential, and psychodynamic practices to help you reflect and explore. The work we do revolves around what is alive in you at the moment, as well as managing the energy in the room and what feels most pervasive to you.
We are a group of compassionate clinicians specializing in anxiety, depression and relational issues. Our dedicated team of therapists is focus on providing skills to enhance your life.
Feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, and grief are part of life, but when they begin to interfere with work or relationships, it may be time to connect and seek support. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, I spent four years working in PR within the entertainment and nonprofit industries. This experience gave me an understanding of the many stresses intense careers cause and the importance of developing coping skills, strong interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence to maintain a healthy well-being and thrive in a fast-paced workplace. I am passionate about helping individuals struggling with eating disorders find recovery using a Health At Every Size/Intuitive Eating perspective. We will examine the underlying issues and maladaptive beliefs that perpetuate your eating disorder and work on healing your relationship with yourself. I work with young women, adolescents, and individuals to help them lessen their burdens and embrace their newfound freedom using a blend of theoretical orientations. I enjoy collaborating with my clients on what works best for them to help them meet their goals and am committed to creating an inclusive environment in my practice.

My areas of emphasis include abuse, trauma, anxiety, academic stress, depression, divorce, grief, self-esteem, and personal growth. I am also trained in EMDR. My approach is warm, respectful and caring. I work collaboratively to create a safe, accepting environment for expression to help empower clients to create more balance, meaning and joy in their lives.
My name is Dr. Aparna Atluru, and I am a Stanford trained psychiatrist, am on faculty at UCSF, and specialize in seeing young adults (18-35). I further subspecialize in treating young up and comers in high stress roles: graduate &professional students, residents/physicians and start-up founders/tech employees. I am many things professionally: academic physician, double boarded psychiatrist, skilled psychotherapist, and Harvard MBA. Given my diverse educational, training, and teaching experiences, I am able to understand high achieving young adults from a unique perspective. I feel I am the best fit for young adults who are multi-dimensional, high achieving, and are motivated to make a change. I have a very limited private practice, and only take on patients who are interested in working on their whole self from a mental health perspective. I provide both psychotherapy and medication management (if needed). As a double boarded physician specializing in psychiatry, I have extensive training in both pediatric and adult psychopharmacology. From a psychotherapy perspective, I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and existential psychotherapy. On the personal side, I am originally from Texas, am Indian- American, and enjoy being outdoors, writing fiction and sipping on a good boba tea. My patients tell me I have a witty sense of humor, so if you can handle that, please reach out and lets see if we can work together!
You don't want to be a burden on others, so you keep it all inside, even when you're overwhelmed. Everyone thinks you're fine, but there's part of your story you never say aloud and it feels like you're about to snap. You know you have so much privilege, but what are you supposed to DO with it except feel immobilized by shame? As a bookworm and psychotherapist, I know the power of stories, especially the ones we didn't choose: family secrets, relationship and sexual difficulties, alcohol use, faith transition and deconstruction, burnout in passion jobs, people-pleasing, anxiety, financial wealth, and privileged identities. You want to learn to speak up without it costing you everyone you love. You want to learn how to give without shame or fear of being found out that you have SO MUCH. You want to create in a world that wants you to monetize everything. I get it, and I've been there. Your story won't be the same as mine, but I've helped clients like you make changes that last. I can help you find more peace in your relationships and write your future story.
My clients usually approach me when they are ready to make a change in their lives. They are experiencing conflicts, inside themselves or with others, and are looking for an empathic, flexible and dynamic clinician to provide support and guidance. Hello, I am Dr. Keisha C. White, a Clinical and School Psychologist in private practice (virtual/telehealth therapy) at KCW Psychological Services and MLH Psychology. My work has focused on helping individuals with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships (family, platonic, romantic), work-life balance, life transitions, special-education assessment, Individual Education Plans (IEP), and fostercare/adoption/transracial adoption therapy. I earned my Bachelor Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, double majoring in Dance and Psychology. I trained as a psychologist in New Jersey, New York City, and California. I completed an APA accredited internship at Pacific Clinics and Post Doctoral Fellowship at both Harbor UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. I have worked in hospital (inpatient and residential), college psychological services, outpatient clinics, as well as, community, school, and home-based settings. As an African American woman growing up in multicultural and ethnically diverse communities, I understand the interrelated impact of diverse cultures, individual differences, and environmental contexts on the development and worldviews of individuals. I recognize the importance yet challenges with having multifaceted identities (e.g., race, age, sexual identity, religion, socio-economic status, education, personal interests…etc) and remaining “true to self,” while engaging in mainstream culture. With this knowledge, I continue to instill in my clients (as well as myself) the importance of maintaining mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness practices, as well as, feelings of HOPE, self-acceptance, and the understanding that the experiences I have had and the choices I have made are not finite and do not solely define my identity. My clients and I are both “agents of change,” constantly progressing, and continuously developing through this journey called life. I am focused on facilitating hope and healing through mental health and wellness practices for my clients, as well as underrepresented groups in the mental health space. I connect with my clients through my personal experiences, and utilize my professional training and creativity to assist my clients with developing and implementing individualized effective strategies to address their challenges. "I am you, I see you, I care” I provide therapy services to residents of CA, NY, NJ, MA, and CT Please email (kcwhite@kcwpsychologicalservices.com) me or call me (323-207-5454) to schedule a free consultation session. I help guide young men through life's challenges by teaching skills that will help them in all facets of their life. Tired of feeling stuck, alone and not knowing how or what to change. Very often feels that if one area of your life is going well, another takes a nose dive. Often the clients I work with are determined, successful and focused but still, something feels like it is not correctly aligned. Many of my clients struggle with relationships, feeling comfortable with others, anxiety and depression. College is a formative time but can very often feel that you are alone trying to figure everything out: what do I want to do? How do I separate what I want from what my parents, friends, professors or peers want? Do I feel ready to be an "adult?" Therapy can help you figure out who you are and where you want to go. Most importantly, meeting with a therapist can help you make sense of it all.
At Empowered Path Clinical Counseling, PC, we create a safe, welcoming space where you can be yourself without judgment. Many of the clients we work with have felt out of place, silenced, or unsure where to turn for support. You might be navigating stress, relationship challenges, identity questions, or past experiences that still affect you today. We understand how overwhelming life can feel, especially when you’re balancing school, work, relationships, and your own well-being. Our therapists are here to listen, help you sort through your thoughts and emotions, and give you practical tools you can use right away. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, identity exploration, past trauma, or just a general sense of feeling “stuck,” we focus on helping you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes. We especially welcome students from the LGBTQIA+ community, people exploring their identities, and anyone who has felt left out or misunderstood. This is your space to be seen, understood, and supported as you move toward a life that feels more like you.
In a fast-paced world, where one mistake feels like a disaster, I offer support so you can slow things down, gain perspective, and relearn how to self-compassion. My hope is that you can find the emotional tools that you need to have a full, peaceful, and happy life. The therapeutic process is a very personal experience that we come to for different reasons. No matter where you are in your life journey, my goal is to honor your process and provide you with a safe space to heal, learn new skills, and receive support. I specialized in Maternal Mental Health, Breakup/Divorce Recovery, Generalized Anxiety, and Career Counseling. Feel free to contact me for information about a free initial consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
Are you unsatisfied with one or more areas of your life? I partner with my clients to empower them to make the changes necessary to bring their realities in line with the lives they truly want. In this way, I collaborate with each individual, couple, and family with whom I work to craft their own individualized success plans. To accomplish this, I draw upon years of experience, as well as a very strong foundation of training in a range of techniques and strategies. Perhaps equally important are the personal qualities that I bring, which include intelligence, genuineness, compassion, and a commitment to the highest standards. I offer a range of types of therapies, often combining several, depending on the particular needs of each client. These include short term interventions designed to provide quick symptom relief and behavioral change, as well as longer-term approaches that aim at helping to extend these changes into a fulfilling life. Entrusting another person to help with your most sensitive issues isn't easy. Please know that I will honor you with the level of care, concern, and commitment you deserve. I will always act in your best interest, helping you to overcome those things that are holding you back.
