Kathy M Brady
I've been a licensed clinical professional in the wellness and mental health community for over 25 years. I am a trauma-informed therapist and am certified in EMDR, MI, DBT, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I am currently learning all I can about Internal Family Systems therapy and am incorporating this into sessions as appropriate.
My goal is to support my clients in resolving issues that have been causing them trouble – whether that is something more temporary, like adjusting to life transitions or something longer term like Complex PTSD. I have a friendly and casual style and believe that a positive therapeutic connection is the foundation for healing. I collaborate with my clients to determine what will work best for them to reach the therapeutic goals that are most important to them.
I specialize in providing trauma informed therapy for college students and adults who are dealing with issues such as:
Anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, PTSD, suicidality (and aftermath of suicide), verbal, physical, and sexual abuse; eating disorders; chemical dependency, and codependency. I am also a Specialized Therapist for adolescents who are at risk for suicide through an association called Second Wind Fund.
With a deep appreciation for the human-animal connection, I have worked as both an Animal Assisted Therapist with my former partner, Kayla (a chocolate lab), and as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist since 2003. My current therapy dog is a rescue mix named Leasel.
I'm enthusiastic, empathetic, always learning, and committed to living from curiosity. I also make space to have some fun along the way!
