My clients are often described as sensitive by family and friends. They know they have big reactions, and they don’t always understand them. They often feel stuck – unable to do the things they want or need to do. They are falling behind in school and hobbies, losing friendships, and sometimes fighting with their parents. They often do not feel understood by the most important people in their lives.

My clients typically have long histories of avoiding the situations that scare them or bring up intense emotions. They’ve spent months – sometimes years – locking themselves in their rooms, skipping class presentations or practice, canceling plans with friends, dropping out of extracurriculars, and/or experimenting with substances. By the time they start therapy with me, my clients are beginning to see that avoidance is not working out for them, and they are ready to try something new.

I often work with clients who have been to therapy before. They have felt judged by and unable to connect with past therapists. They have been asked either to change everything at once, or they have not been encouraged to change anything at all. “Therapy doesn’t do anything,” they say to their parents.

Together we will “do something.” We’ll identify concrete therapeutic goals and figure out what has been getting in the way of achieving them. Then, we’ll implement the skills needed to get you where you want to be.

My practice is located in Brooklyn Heights, NY. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions. Please reach out via phone or email to schedule a free 15-min consultation call.
